Many modern artists profess to be multi instrumentalists. This is true in the sense that they can 'noodle' on say a guitar or a few simple chordal progressions on a piano. maybe they can even do a simple root bass walk.

It doesnt make them accomplished musicians.

George falls into this catergory.

I agree with 3121. Brian McKnight falls in that same category too.

He definitely plays a bit (particularly keyboards), but you can hear the difference between what he can do as opposed to real musicians if you listen to the extended version of I Want Your Sex.

The first part is all done by him, and the second part has outside musicians. His part was a huge hit (to his credit), but the second part leaps off the record in terms of playing.

I'm sure he plays a little guitar, but watching the video to faith he looked like he was not playing the right thing, but that was years ago, maybe I'm wrong.

I saw an interview awhile ago when he said he wrote the song 'Patience' on John Lennon's piano (the Imagine one), but then he scoffed at the idea that it was him playing it on the record, and that he got someone else to play it for the recording. He was basically saying he wasn't good enough for his piano parts to be put on record.
