The System apprecation thread

Does anyone remember The System??

Just watch on you tube, Don't Disturb this Groove.

That song was the SHYTE!!

I can't believe it was mainly a 2 man band. That had a sound that I really liked.

I love the System. Mic Murphy was one of the most under appreciated lead singers, and lyricists. ...Dude actually took time to come up some great poetry on their best songs. Look up the fantastic "Lollipops and Everything" or his solo song "Touch".

The dude on the keys and programming was pretty hip with his beats. They had some cool songs.

OK someone has to have the video of my man riding the motorcycle (ala Purple rain) with the huge cross earring dangling. I haven't seen that vid in years.

You're talking about the video for "This Is for You."

I was a huge fan of The System's. I have all five of their albums -- "Sweat," "X-Periment," "The Pleasure Seekers," "Don't Disturb This Groove" and "Rhythm n' Romance" -- on CD. David Frank and Mic Murphy's blend of techno, dance and soul music was very progressive and organic-sounding for a mostly synthesizer/drum machine-dominant group.
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

What the hell ? You don't even have their 6th and last released album called "ESP" out in 2000 and you call yourself a fan?? LOL!

I have that album, its the shit, plenty of funky joints on there and still using the awesome synths albeit updated, I'm quite amazed not many people realise they released new music in 2000 ! Good Album cover too ! cool cool razz

listen to the samples, freaking good music !

are you referring to their 1985 "Pleasure Seekers" video? lol That video is downright hilarious...the lead singer is shown riding a motorcycle around town, with a long,Prince-like hairdo, lol.I'm guessing this was supposed to be some kind of Prince tribute?

Maybe I should have rephrased that as saying I have all The System's albums when they were a commercially viable act.

What songs I heard on "ESP" all sounded the same. Mic Murphy and David Frank did what every act from their era has done when it came to making music in this era -- they ended up abandoning the style that made them famous and ended up sound indistinguishable from everything else out there.

Mic Murphy also did something similar on "This Is for You," the follow-up to "The Pleasure Seekers."

Hey everyone. Let's not forget that these two were some top notch producers too. They wrote "This Is Our Night" for Chaka Khan. And they also produced the soundtrack for the movie "Coming To America" One of Eddie Murphy's funniest.
