Ok here it is...my long awaited review of Hilary Duff's "Diginity" Ok first of all i was totally blown away by this record, i always knew Hilary as just this teen pop girl and didnt really pay too much attention to her, although she seems to be the only one that isnt "screwed up" or so full of themselves. I think mainly its because of Hilarys family bond, mainly with her sister that she hasnt become the tragedies of the Pop World. So here we are 4 albums in and gone is the teen pop girl and replace by a 20-21 year old more mature girl. But when i say mature dont get that wrong, this is not a transformation into a Sex driven girl, Hilary is better than that. Usually younger artists they jump from wholesome to SEX in the blink of an eye, i mean there are so many we can mention. But thats not to say Hilary isnt sexy, she is very sexy, but you wont find lyrics about "SEX", in fact the word never comes up. Now the other thing to clear up the whole KYLIE thing, the only thing about this album that reminds me of KYLIE is just the main theme of this record and thats 80's UK pop/dance its all here, but honestly Kylie hasnt done a great record like this IMO.
The other thing is the production of this record, different on every track, Executive Produced by Hilary, All tracks except one written by Hilary. Producers on this record range from Richard Vission to Haylie Duff (hilarys sister). So heres the record STRANGER- great opening track, sick keyboard and guitar riff, with a wide open chorus, very melodic and memorable, possible single easily. POP song but very dark with riffs. DIGNITY- the keyboard intro and background reminds me of the Cars circa 1984's Heartbeat City. This song is Hilary's document of the Celebs who make news by doing nothing, no names but im sure we can guess who she is talking about. Great song, yet another single if there were singles anymore. Love the frantic chorus. WITH LOVE- well the "single", great song, especially to lead the album and get people into the new Hilary Vibe, or at least the more mature sound. Great song, if this were the 80's the mixes would be in demand. DANGER- very Prince like with the linn-drum sound, yet another catchy chorus, thats what pop/dance is...Very 80's track. GYPSY WOMAN- Strange Track, probably my least favorite track on the record, very weird, but im sure it will grow on me more, still interesting. NEVER STOP- OK here it is, if this song isnt a Freaking hit song, the world will end! Plain and simple, this is the most catchy 80's upbeat song ever! Perfect song! and yes amazing Keyboards NO WORK ALL PLAY- Very retro feel, sounds like a Lisa Lisa solo track, very interesting once again, makes me long for Lisa and Full Force again. BETWEEN YOU AN ME- Very catchy pop song, qucik pace, DELIRIOUS like. DREAMER- Holy Crap, it doesnt get catchier than this does it. Its a mixture of a great Pop Chorus and a catchy beat that Hilary is doing with her vocal HAPPY-Love the acoustic guitar in the back, great building chorus, the chorus, very FREESTYLE 80's! BURNED- Pretty good song, the Love scordned type song, once again very Freestyle beat! OUTSIDE OF YOU- AMAZING! Possibly the best song on this amazing record, Rock, drums, guitars,Live band, Produced by Richard Vission, AMAZING chorus, love her voice on it, fits perfect, PERFECT SONG! I WISH- Prince is back once again, guitar riff beat, Guitar solo very Prince like, Its crazy how catchy this record is, and how all the songs are different! maybe its best to mix your producers. PLAY WITH FIRE- this track was released last year, its pretty good, but im glad they waited to release the record till now, its a strong song, but WITH LOVE is a better lead single. Overall 4.5 stars out of five. Im not the only one raving about this record, Bilboard has given praise which is rare to a teen-star. Strong points of the record are just the mix of producers and Hilary being the Executive Producer, this is her vision not the Producers which is the problem with todays music, its the other way around. If this were the 80's and singles were released, this record easily has 5-6 singles, but i think this record will be a bigger success chart wise overseas, which is why Hilary did the most press in the UK/Europe/SPAIN than she has ever done before, i think artists know how the market is going over here. I agree with everything but the comment of it being better then Kylie.
This is the first step in the direction to becoming more like Kylie. This to me appears to be her Let's Get To It album. I can't believe I say I like it but I do. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

Its not so much being better than Kylie as an artist at all, its the fact that im always a bit let down by Kylies albums, I would love to Kylie to do something as catchy as this record. I like it, i was ashamed at first but now i'm not I LOVE IT! Yeah i mean its been so long since i have listened to a record this much, and straight through, especially a mainstream pop/dance record, usually i get bored of them really quick or cant get through them beginning to end more than once, but this album is solid, and the best part about it is that there isnt some "producer" all through the record putting him stamp on every track, that stuff is tired already. Ok we differ on this one, but to me its a solid pop/dance record long overdue in this market. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

wow- hilary duff getting rave reviews. okay...check CNN- did hell freeze over? i like some of her songs...but i dunno if i'd buy any of her CDs, much less any of her singles. but she is a better singer than she is an actress for sure. "So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..."

We either are being way too tough on Hilary as a person or giving WAY too many others too much credit. Sure she is the "Lizzie Mcguire" girl and child star, but so was Timberlake (mickey mouse club) who many orgers were doing backflips for last year when his record came out, and think why did people like his record, it had nothing to do with as a vocalist or a person it had to do with beats. And Hilarys case they arent beats its just really good producers and good writing (her actually) and just a really good focused record that makes this a freaking great record, Im not saying put her in the Hall of Fame or something, although when i see some people that get in, that might not be a bad idea one day. Also the use of all different producers is why this record is really good, no one has their stamp on it, which cannot be said of many artists in mainstream today. listened to the album again and it didn't do nothing for me. Hilary's voice is annoying and let's face it...the songs are lame! Strangely this album will be a classic amoung the disgusting gay sub-genre that is the Twinks...
