Music Box is actually the one where I started losing interest. Every song on there has a repeat. It's half a great album twice.

I wouldn't say it's her "best" album, but I would consider Butterfly or Mimi her personal best. To me, she really started to become a woman by the time "Music Box" came along. Listening to Music Box, I can really hear and feel Tommy Matolla throughout the entire project.

It was the first mariah carey album I ever heard. It's still special for me and I consider it one of her best!

We had a bonus track called "Everything Fades Away". That song was beautiful!

I hardly ever play Music Box. I'm partial to Butterfly and Mimi. When I want to hear a throw back I usually play Glitter or Rainbow.

Rainbow has Petals, which is maybe the best song Mariah ever did. Shame songs like X-Girlfriend ruin the album

Mimi, Butterfly, MTV Unplugged, and her Greatest Hits compilation are the only 4 albums I'm ever partial to when it comes to Mariah. Most of her albums are clearly just mixed bags. Mimi and Butterfly are her two best records because they have that flow and consistency. And they have that soulful flava I like!

nod Petals and Bliss and I personally love Crybaby. There's a lot of cheese mixed in on Rainbow.

I think that's what I like about Emancipation. No cheese at all which means no skipping.

I agree with you. Also she stopped whispering and used her normal voice more

When the cd first came out i thought it was the best album i had ever heard. But now i can't really listen to it all the way through without skipping most of the tracks. I personally think "MIMI" is her best album because its more mature sounding.

However i still think that "music box", "just to hold you once again", "all i ever wanted", "without you" and "all i ever wanted" ( the europeon bonus track, possibly her best ballad ever IMO) are killer tracks...

Though I loved alot of the RAINBOW album..it seems Mariah got caught up in all the teen pop/boy band craze going on at the time and wanting to compete...i remember my mouth dropping when I saw the promo shots for RAINBOW and thinking 'She is trying way too hard'....

My favs in that order:

BUTTERFLY
DAYDREAM
EMOTIONS
MIMI
GLITTER
MARIAH CAREY
MUSIC BOX
RAINBOW
CHARMBRACLET
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Scandal, I forgot all about Charmbracelet. Actually I would put that above Rainbow as a throwback listen. Way more gems on that than on Rainbow plus it has Clown and Subtle Invitation, one of her best songs ever.

I love that she's developing quite a discography. I hate that some other artists only have 3 or 4 albums in a span of 30 years or so and you just end up discussig the same CDs repeatedly because it takes 6 or 7 years to release something new. whistling

SADE that means you!!!!!

I based my list on how much I listen to each album...I do listen to RAINBOW more than CHARM...Aside from 'Subtle Invitation'...I didnt really care for the rest of it. I'm sure someday I'll revisit and think differently.

peace
