I agree.

I think the Grammy's , Star walk of Fame was the peak of his "normal" face look.

Does anyone else think that he started bleaching his skin in the (Say,Say,Say) Video?? Because he was sooooo dark!! Then in like a year or so he was lighten up.

I am kinda feelin that maybe with Say Say Say is really the last of the Thriller Era videos more or less, he might have started the transformation of his skin. If you see him in that video he is dark as hell & possibly he wore makeup to make him brown-dark/ brown "still".

hmmm?

Really, I've never thought MJ was that dark, to me he was more of a toffee complexion, I could never compare his natural complexion with someone like Wesley Snipes or even Eddie Murphy. I mean the pics of him before all the surgery being posted proves that.

I never thought he was that dark either. The only time he looked very dark was in "Thriller" & "Say Say Say" but other than that I would say his natural complexion is a medium brown.

I think most folks including Alexdeparis realize this, but agree his plastic surgery still looked "natural" (ie. human) after the first surgery.

True. I am not making a big deal about a couple of nose jobs, lets face it over 90% of peeps in showbiz has had some surgery, so a couple of nose jobs is nothing to get hysterical about. Infact he did his first nose job around OTW, but I notice that his trade-mark afro had gone, rather than his nose at the time. The thing is, up to Thriller you could more or less tell that was Michael Jackson, but from the Bad era it was like he had been replaced by a different person. The reason why peeps now can tell its the same person is due to the fact that he has more or less the same body shape he had when he was 20 and certain expressions and mannerism never change regardless how much surgery one does.

Why does it bother some people so much if some of the fans think he looks good now? Why do some of u care so much? Calling me a nutjob or delusional isn't going to change my mind. I've heard these things a gazillion times and I still think he has his days where he looks good. Get over it.

nod I think some people can't detect the differences in shades of brown. MJ is not the same brown of Eddie Murphy who is not the same brown of Wesley Snipes who in my opinion is not "brown" at all.

I'd say, for many of the black people who recoil at the suggestion MJ looks good, it's because that statement is made (and we live) within a context that rewards those who cleave to Eurocentric standards of beauty. Blond Beyonce and Mary J. Blige are but two examples. MJ stands as the most extreme.example, with Lil' Kim nipping at his heels in a close second.

So, when we remark at what Jackson has done to himself, it often is within the context of seeing what used to be one of black America's biggest successes distance himself -- quite literally -- from that blackness that informed a lot of that success.

Michael Jackson is a grotesque, walking renunciation of a person's ethnic identity. For those of us, to hear someone suggest that he looks good -- in any other context than one where someone compliments a hospital patient, "Hey, he looked good... today" -- is nauseating.

He doesn't look good to us. He just ... doesn't.

I was born in the Bad era. Michael's always been Michael to me. Being black, I've had thoughts. "Why the changes? What did he hate about himself? Was he that unhappy?" But at the end of the day, he's still Michael Jackson. Even though I believe he has vitiligo(Did research papers in high school and college) and reading things he's said in the past, I don't think him hating being black wasn't the problem.....it had and still has to be something else, but I don't know what.

Anyway, that's just my POV. Don't kill me for it lol

That would be almost plausible, if his change in complexion weren't accompanied by 1) plastic surgery that made his features keener and less African-American, and 2) white children he likes to pass of as biologically his.

Those two factors refute your position, I'm afraid.

Exactly. Michael Jackson today would be perfectly cast in the next Spider-Man movie as the wall-crawler's enemy Morbius:

People who say MJ looks good either are equally disconnected with reality as MJ (because they can't find another human being who has mutilated himself quite the way MJ has) or it's a tacit way of saying they prefer a man looking like a distorted caricature of a Caucasian woman than his God-given appearance.

Some pretty good posts.

I always found it odd that there are some who thinks he looks good now but show them a pic of him from the 70s and they turn their nose up at it. Are you serious? I think some find him more palatable as Euro looking with feminine featurs and style, read: less threatening, than as the obvious black man he used to be.

I have a hard time falling all over someone who doesn't seem to love himself for who he is.

Michael Jackson plays the race card when it suits him -- even when it makes him look contradictory. I remember after his arrest during the child molestation saga that MJ went on the NAACP awards talking about he was accused because he was black and cried racial discrimination by the LAPD (shades of Rodney King). MJ also has played that card when it came to his pissing match with Tommy Mottola, with his "(Mottola) doesn't care about black people" statement.

It's just so hard to take MJ seriously talking about race issues adversely affecting black Americans when he looks like a man who deliberately tried to remove himself from being a black American.
