John Mayer Was just curious to know what the Prince fans think of this guy, kinda reminds me of a new Prince! We're here, might as well get into it.

I liked him, but this Jessica Simpson relationship just brings me down. He must keep her mouth full just so she's not asking stupid questions bout how to work the tv remote. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Sometimes I feel like people just say shit to get a reaction outta people... this is one of those times Nonetheless, I like "Continuum" a lot, but what the fuck he got to do w/ P? He gotta get that "singing live" thing down first

He's probably closer Clapton than Prince though, just has a few traits that remind me of Prince We're here, might as well get into it.

I actually would check him out live if he came close enough - he's hitting the Bay Area (where I am) but I'm not driving 45 minutes for him . [Edited 4/5/07 1:51am]

I like Continuum, there's some decent guitar work on it and the lyrics are good too, but it's a bit on the dull side. I would've liked a bit more rock and roll.

yes, u got it. Tha fact that he's dating Jessica is a real turn off too. I know it shouldn't matter at all, but it bugs me.

C'mon the 45 minutes is not that bad, well it's more like 1.5 to 2 hours in traffic. I need to start planning on the trip so I can hopefully avoid a CPT situation. John Mayer just wants to be this generation's Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn. There is no Prince in the mix. As for his relationships, whatever I don't have a chance, it's his life, and it's a rebound relationship anyway. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I like him, i really didn't get into him of recent when Continuum came out. I like d it a lot. and was very impressed. I'm going to his show in Hartford, which is homecoming show if you will, so it should be pretty good.

He reminds me of songwriters from days gone by. His song Daughters is just brilliant. So simple, and to the point. Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

He's got that musician stuck in a Pop star's body marketing dichotomy happening.
I dig this performance video... http://www.youtube.com/wa...ZhisRbim-c ...all playing, no singing. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

[Edited 4/5/07 1:51am] -"Your Body is a Wonderland" reminds me of "the most beautiful girl in the world". -The Hendrix connection, Mayer's "Bold as Love and Prince's impersonation with "Fury" - The slow muffled funk of "i don't trust myself" and "3121" are similar -Old school soul ballads with real instrumentation, "gravity","i'm gonna find another you" compared to "satistfied" and "on the couch". And there's also the falsetto, although Mayer's falsetto reminds me more of Clapton's. Infact "heart of life" and "stop this train" sound like they could've been on his "pilgrim" album. Can't believe he's going out with that tart Jessica Simpson though, actually that's another thing. He and Prince both like going out with brainless pairs of jugs. You should get your ass to that concert, your missing out. We're here, might as well get into it.

i liked a couple of his songs but didn't pay too much attention past a friend called said he had an extra ticket and asked if i wanted to go to see him live (along with Sheryl Crow). needless to say... one of the best live performers i've ever seen. i do see where people compare him to Prince as far as guitar playing goes. there were a couple moments were i thought the same thing. the boy is baaaaad!!!!! fan for life!! John is like P without the extras. Check out some of John's live performances on YouTube. He really puts on a good show.

I hear you but I've been to more concerts this past 2-3 years than ever before in life, I'm starting to get spoiled There was I time when my ass drove to Sac to see Prince but I wouldn't do that now, I'd wait for that mf to be at least 20 minutes away Can't do traffic & a night off from work for John, he ain't even holding his notes right

[Edited 4/5/07 1:51am] -"Your Body is a Wonderland" reminds me of "the most beautiful girl in the world". Never heard that song - I just got up on John w/ "Continuum", all that Dawson's Creek shit ain't with me. Plus I HATE "TMBGITW", it's one of P's sappiest songs -The Hendrix connection, Mayer's "Bold as Love and Prince's impersonation with "Fury"
I guess I'm just not thinking - I never considered "Fury" a Hendrix impersonation - The slow muffled funk of "i don't trust myself" and "3121" are similar
That's where I leap to John's side - I can't STAND "3121", but "I Don't Trust Myself" is awesome & far superior I can see where you see a similarity in the beat though... -Old school soul ballads with real instrumentation, "gravity","i'm gonna find another you" compared to "satistfied" and "on the couch".
Again, never thought of those but I can see where you draw similarities (though it's really only a tempo thing)... And there's also the falsetto, although Mayer's falsetto reminds me more of Clapton's. Infact "heart of life" and "stop this train" sound like they could've been on his "pilgrim" album.

Prince is an ass man, not a tit man Won't be @ the show, but if he comes to SF I'll head over the bridge Good points dude, a bit of a reach but I do dig John as a musician
