This Is The Only Good Song From Chaka Khan's "Destiny"

Tight Fit:

You could see young Lisa Fisher raising hell in the background music

Sorry to disagree with you -- "Love of a Lifetime" was one of her best singles of the 80s and I think Destiny as a whole wasn't a bad album either. It's just got a more pop/rock/r&b sound to it than her more r&b/funk-based albums. There are some great tunes on there. Granted, coming after the "I Feel For You" album, it would have been tough for her to equal that success again (not to mention the quality of that album). If you went into it expecting a repeat of I Feel For You or her other r&b-based albums, I can understand why you might have been taken aback. But it was nice to hear Chaka stretch it out a bit on some rockier and poppier tunes. Destiny was a solid album, just not what some might have wanted or expected after I Feel For You. It was definitely aimed at more of a pop/rock market. If anything, Destiny (from a rock/pop perspective) and Echos of an Era/Classikhan (from a jazz perspective) show how diverse Chaka really was and still is.

P.S.-- Lisa Fischer is one criminally underated r&b singer. Sad that she only released "So Intense" -- great album. She should have been a bigger star.

I feel you, in a sense that Chaka can switch from style to style.

But "Destiny" seemed kinda calculated from WB's part. I guess they wanted to have another "I feel for you" by repeating the same formula and the result is Chaka being crowded by an over-produced fluff, at least IMO.

BTW there's another good song from the album, "So Close" nod
