Prince set to wow the Apollo

POP legend Prince has confirmed he will play one of two exclusive UK gigs at Manchester's Apollo theatre next month.

The purple prince of rock and roll - formerly known as The Artist or Symbol and now known as Prince - is set to play the Apollo on October 7.

The One Night In Europe show is also visiting London's Hammersmith Apollo on October 3.

The tiny sexstar - named after his Dad's jazz band, the Prince Roger Trio - is best known for songs like 1999, Purple Rain and When Doves Cry. Not forgetting his risque Little Red Corvette on MTV.

The Bangles also owe their Manic Monday fame to the pint-sized star, who wrote the hit under the pseudonym Christopher.

As well as reaching rock and pop icon status in the 80s, Prince directed two movies - Under The Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge - and starred in Purple Rain.

He has just finished a six date US tour of his album The Rainbow Children with his group the New Power Generation.

Tickets for Apollo's gig go on sale on Monday, September 16, and are priced at £60, £45 and £35.
