Icicle

I can`t believe i haven`t noticed this thread before now omg

I`m taking notes....

I can only think of a few

Of course plenty of Aretha Franklin, mainly "Angel" and "(You make me feel like) a natural woman"

"Oh, baby, what you've done to me
You make me feel so good inside
And I just want to be close to you
You make me fell so alive"

"When somebody loves you back" and "Turn off the lights" by my fav. male soulsinger, Teddy Pendergrass...

I always think of Nina Simone as one a soulsinger, especially when hearing "Nobody" and "I wish i knew how it would feel to be free"

"I wish i could be like a bird in the sky
How sweet it would be
If I found out I could fly
I`d soar to the sun
and look down on the sea"

Another favorite is "One day i`ll fly away" from Randy Crawford music

I´ve never heard that one.

You haven't? it was on the J5 "Third Album", it was never a single, but the bassline by Jamerson as well as MJ soulful voice makes it one of their best songs imo. I even heard it is one of Prince's favourite. confused

Anyway, I got the song from youtube. Enjoy.

I don´t have any Motown albums. I just have some compilations of hits and it is not on that. I would love to get those, but I have been broke recently, so I gotta wait. I´d love to get MJ solo Motown albums as well.
BTW do you know what album is "Find me a girl" on?

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

"find Me a girl" is from one of the his Epic albums with the Jacksons as opposed to the J5. I think it is on "Going Places" or "The Jacksons".

Thanks for the info. These are the two albums that I don´t have. I have only Victory, Triumph and Destiny.

I don't know how I keep forgetting that song. That is Jermaine's best song an all time classic.

Nice picks. I should've had some Aretha in my list.

From that late 60s Atlantic period, anytime she was at the piano it just happened.
(I Never Loved A Man, Since You Been Gone, Baby I Love You, etc.)

It's too hard to choose from those Aretha years. I picked those particular songs on the basis of the personnel, particular studios, and songwriters, as much as for Aretha. They are not her best vocal performances, however.

Sometimes it's because their vocals don't sound perfect that gives the songs that soulful, raw edge. That's why I like Mary.J.Blige she sings how she feels and sometimes it alot of times it's sound heart-rendering even when she is npt in tune.

Incomplete and Never Gone by the Backstreet Boys. Aretha Franklin's music is very soulful.

I know alot of you guys prolly don't like the BSB but I really recommend those two songs from their Never Gone album. Never Gone's a song abt mourning the loss of a loved one, and Incomplete is a spine-tingling song abt llooooveee.
