Kelly vs Beyonce

Have you all heard Kelly Roland's new single featuring Eve? It's pretty hot for Kelly. It seems she is stepping her game up! Can she give Beyonce a run for her money or will Beyonce continue to be the queen of R&B and pop?

She definitely has the ability to give Beyonce a run for her money.... If her cd is anywhere close (musically) to what they did as Destiny's Child.. that fan base will snatch Ms Kelly up

i think so too especially since i think a lot of people are probably burnt out on beyonce due to over exposure.

Matthew would have Kelly shot before she came even close to where Beyonce is now but Kelly might have a chance to have solid career on her own. The song is cute. A nice dance record without overbearing vocals. She’s really pushing her sexy factor in the video too.

damn, you made me laugh by saying mathew would have kelly shot. it's probably true though. wouldn't that be some shit? anyway, kelly is a very pretty girl but you'd probably never notice back in the DC days because beyonce was always front and center. her body is no joke!

Since Beyonce recorded her last cd in a week I certainly HOPE kelly can create better material than that. Kelly is FINE but I don't know if she has the pipes or the material.

I'd buy the poster though.

Kelly doesnt have that "potiential" to be the mega star that Beyonce has become, one, she doesnt have the forces behind her to push her, two, she does not appeal to a wide audience, threee, i hope she isnt trying to compete on that level. Seriously if she is its a waste of time, the mega status that Beyonce has had comes to very few, Kelly would drive herself nuts to even try to match that. She is best served trying to be a good artist and not a clone, though judging from this video it seems like she is trying to be in that mold.

It wouldnt be a surprise, i mean he has pulled some shady stuff at Sony to make sure no one rivals Beyonce.

why do you say she doesn't apeal to a wide audience? i hope she does give beyonce a run for her money but sadly i don't think she will succeed. people love beyonce too much.

But Kelly is Beyonce's sist--uh, I mean cousin, right? So she'll always have to live with Matthew in her life somehow unless she walks away from the family. That's gotta suck.

yeah, they're cousins so there's no escaping mathew which has got to seriously suck. have you guys also ever noticed in old interviews that kelly would always speak so highly of beyonce? it was weird and almost creepy. did they train the members of DC to do that because michelle used to do it too. i hope one day a book comes out on those people. i bet there's a lot of scandal in that family.

The Knowles family became her legal guardians during the early days of DC. So they are like family and I doubt that Kelly will ever be far from them. But I'm sure the day Beyonce pulls a Janet and fires daddy, Kelly won't be far behind! lol
pray God bless everyone. NO exceptions. pray

She doesnt appeal to a wide audience, if she did she would sell 10 million albums, very few people appeal to wide audiences especailly in music.

well she only released 1 cd and that cd was a departure from what she did with Destiny's child... this cd is along those lines this time... let's just wait and see how it does

It wont do it, im sure it well do ok, maybe 500,000 overall in this market climate would be great, but Kelly doesnt have "that somethng" that will make you someone with wide appeal. Its not a knock on her, its true and what alot of people say about Amerie and Mya also, i mean i respect artists more when they dont try to be someone else and they just do their own thing, which is why i would jump on a new cd by Amerie or MYA much quicker than someone like Beyonce.

After watching the video (which is good BTW!) I notice that Kelly's vocal melody is like a toned-down Beyonce (which is a good thing, not overproduced). But the music itself is better than anything else Beyonce has done all year. IMO, Kelly can have a successful solo career. cool

In other words (as far as the music industry is concern), Kelly isn't light enough like Beyonce to appeal to a wider pop audience! disbelief

YOU misunderstood me. THAT'S the music industry conclusion about Kelly & Beyonce comparsion, not mine!

And beside, I hate the history of the BPBT. During the first half of the 20th century, New Orleans (my birthplace) has this infamous rule among the light-skinned blacks (READ: The Creoles) and the dark-skinned blacks. Only the blacks who were lighter than the BPB were allow to go to all of the "whites only" activities. Light was consider "beautiful" and Dark was consider "unwanted" because of this racist setting in the South at the time.

And sadly, this way of thinking still exist somewhere in the entertainment industry today.

No, no. I know all of that. I just thought it was funny you put it out there like that. I just added the hair straight as a ruler thing. I knew you didn't feel that way about her
