AKA Maxi single no doubt, like Gett Off or is that another entity?

Maxi single's are singles with remixes, Ep's are/were usually albums with 4 or 6 songs on them.

The cover of the US Gett Off had "specially priced maxi-single" and boasted more tracks than it's UK 12" counterpart, thats where the confusion lies.

By the way did Prince draw the cover for Gett Off, it's very like that of 1999 in design?

Right, dating back to a time when singles were a more common purchase

it was on cd, so it could be as long as a traditional ep, but instedad of 5 or 6 new songs, you get 5 or 6 mixes or instrumentals.
