Wanna-be's?? Honestly anyone can fit this category

Its been popular lately to say such and such is a wanna-be this or that, but really cant we say that about anyone through time? I mean here are some recent examples....

Katharine Mcphee- Mariah or Xtina
Fantasia- Macy Gray
Hilary Duff- Kylie Minogue
Amy Whinehouse-Fiona Apple

but really we can go far back and trace everyone

Terence Trent-Prince
Lenny Kravitz- Prince
Aerosmith-Rolling Stones
Prince-Santana/Hendrixx
Beyonce-Tina Turner
Nirvana-Pearl Jam

I mean we can go on forever, so really everyone is a wanna-be someone or just influenced by them.

Yeah its just that we can all go on for days and talk about wanna-be this or that at this point, the debate has been going on for ages.

The point is in reality everyone is a wanna-be. We use the term to put someone down, and yet some of the greats and legends really were just wanna-bes in their own right.

Too many freaking Prince-clones to mention in this thread. Janet-clones & 2pac-clones are first-runners up.

At least most of the wannabes within Prince's & Rick James' generation were real talents (Examples: Ready For The World, Full Force, Georgio, Klymaxx, etc.) I can't say the same thing about most of the wannabes of the 1990's or 2000's.

Prince -- Sly/Stevie/Jimi/Carlos/Thelonious/Miles? lol

I don't think Prince is a wannabe, older folks I know who grew up with Stevie, Sly and Jimi imply as such (while recognizing Prince is talented in his own right).
