Really????? eek

yup

The song, written by Jackson and Teddy Riley, is about keeping a relationship between secret. It was also allegedly Jackson's attempt to silence critics who questioned his sexuality. To further squelch rumors, the video, directed by Herb Ritts, features Jackson dancing suggestively with model Naomi Campbell. The song's female vocal was originally labeled "Mystery Girl" but was later revealed to be Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, though the vocal was originally meant for Madonna).

Guest appearances on this album were made by rapper L.T.B, Princess Stephanie of Monacco (credited as the "Mystery Girl"), and Slash

ok, the cd version feat. Princess Stephanie of Monacco as the "Mystery Girl", but who does the video part... They are 2 different women... I still think that voice on the video is Diana Ross's

If I'm not mistaken I think they recorded Naomi for the video version

Yes that's right, Naomi recorded her vocals for the video version.

I don't know why people find it hard to believe that it's Princess Stephanie - she has a very distinctive voice and there's no mistaking her. I don't think Madonna's voice would have worked to be honest since she's much deeper and overpowering. It wouldn't have sounded right against MJ's softer voice.

according to people close to M she was shocked that MJ didn't know that the title could refer to being homosexual. she had an idea of using her him and Jose and Luis.

she ended up backing away after the song didn't turn out the way she wanted. MJ didn't stop the rumor that it was her as the mystery girl. this song is the root of the Janet and M feud.

That´s not true. Here´s a proof. Madonna herself putting the record straight.

I´ve heard that Joseph, MJ´s father, wrote a book in which he claims that Mike went out with Stephanie at one point. Don´t know if it´s true though.

I forgot to ask you guys, how what does In the closet exactly mean? Does it mean Keep it a secret?

It's a term used to describe homosexuals who have yet to "come out". wink

That being said, in this case it does mean the more general "keep it a secret."

Watch the Madonna video that I posted. She says that it was his intention to have a controversial title. I think Mike´s very smart in playing with the public. I loved how Diane Saweyr asked him about that ridiculous History commercial and he said smiling that he "wanted everybody´s attention". That was smart.

Thanks guys for the explanation. biggrin

Lol, I loved that interview w/Diane Sawyer. Michael looked really upset at times and it was funny when at one point during the interview he told Diane that the question she asked him was "ridiculous", that was just too funny. I also think Michael is a lot smarter than people realize. He knows exactly what "In The Closet" means which is precisely why he decided to name the song that. I think the whole song/video is absolutely brilliant!
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

Yeah, I love it too. Mike´s sooooo HOT and CUTE in it. Lisa looked her best there as well.
Anyways, I think that Mike knows really a lot about sex. Just think of the way he grew up. How many of us were "lucky" not to read or read about sex as children or teenagers, but "seeing it live". Ppl just love to make him look that he´s a ten-year old naive child, which he is in some ways, but not in all ways. lol
