Kelis / Kaleidoscope (1999)

Kelis / Kaleidoscope (1999)

Took this album out after not playing it for quite a while and it still sounds fresh and bugged out.

I still remember the first time I heard this album back in '99. NEVER heard anything like it. Back when the Neptunes were still unknown. People in my high school @ the time were like "The Neptunes? Kelis?" lol

I used to lock myself in my room and BLAST THIS ALBUM after school on a AIWA stereo. HAHA!

This is one of my favorite CDs to drive to while I'm on the highway by myself.

At times I have to turn it up to the red!

I also bought this as soon as it came out, just on the strength that it was a Neptunes project.

smile I can imagine this being transporting on a nighttime drive.

Even though, I have it on Compact Disc, my brother still bought a copy for himself on Vinyl. He BLASTS "Suspended."

I remember buying this album after liking the song the Neptunes did with NORE called "Superthug (What What)." I used to wild out to that video! Had that same AIWA stereo connected to the TV in my room BUGGIN'!!! LOLLL.

And later I saw "Caught Out There" on MTV as a Buzzworthy Video.

I'm gettin' old, when I remember all this stuff like it was YESTERDAY lol

Yeah NORE "Superthug" was crazy. I knew The Neptunes from SWV's 1996 album.

Weren't they calling themselves something like "The Characters" back then? I think they hadn't established their final name yet...

Speaking of time flashing, this is an old remnant from my fan webmastering days when I used to run a Kelis fan site (2000-2002):

falloff Ahhh, the days of webring drama! *DEAD*

smile The Characters = Troy Taylor + Charles Farrar and they did tracks on SWV's 1997 album Release Some Tension ("Love Like This", "Lose Myself", "Here For You").

I'm referring to SWV's New Beginning album with "Use Your Heart" and "When This Feeling" credited to "Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo for Neptune Productions". biggrin

I had no idea The 'Tunes produced "Use Your Heart." Thanks for that info.

I didn't even know they had a Xmas album (...guess that's how much my interest was retained :-/ *DEATH* )

I still think RST is the last album. Nothing else was promoted properly after that.

I can't remember if "Suspended" was a single, but I loved that one and "Get Along With You" the most.
