Any way you cut it J Lo is a diva. Her head is bigger than her ass. No matter how sweet and innocent she tries to act, she is so full of herself lately, it's sickening. Too bad she's let fame and fortune change her so much. She seemed very sweet at first, but she's just a diva/bitch.

I am black and I am a fan of Jennifer's. I don't believe she would say something like that. IMO, That letter, if it exists, must have come from someone in her camp and not Lopez herself. And we all know how celebrity's camps often give out misinformation or say things that are contradictary to the stars views. zzz

Why would she say that if the "I'm Real remix" was just featured on The Source's Hip Hop Compilation Number 5? disbelief

I think all of you are just jumping to conclusions based on a report, that, by the way, was disputed by her manager because you want to hate her so much. rolleyes

I know it's bad for just anyone to use that word, but as long as it's such a bad word, how about we raise hell over anyone that uses it. Black rappers, white rednecks, Prince, everybody. Why do alot of black people use it toward each other as an affectionate term? The word has got to go...

yea, very true! everyone says it: spanish,guyanese,south-asain and obviously black kids.

Again, subyduby misses the point. You (and jtgillia) should try to understand the usage and current meaning of the word before attempting to ban it from our vocabulary. That said, I never use the word because of it's depressing history and negative connotation.

I agree! I think it's absurd to suggest that J-Lo is a racist or that she doesn't like Black music. As her (black) manager pointed out,her two albums were primarily produced by Black producers and songwriters. Her last album was produced by Cory Rooney,P.Diddy and Rodney Jerkins, who are all Black.I just don't believe that she made those comments,or that she even knew about this planned compilation CD.If she REALLY felt her music was "Latin" and not Black, why did she allow her "I'm Real" remix to appear on Ja Rule's CD,or her "Ain't It Funny" remix to appear on Irv Gotti's new CD???

I get confused with these statements sometimes because I live close to where J.Lo used to live, and mostly everyone, 'hispanics' and 'blacks' listen to and are into the SAME kind of music, and basically have the same influences. To say that she was never down from the beginning, I don't know about that, but basically, I just think she happens to be very, very ignorant, and giving into the being 'Latina' hype kind of thing, whatever that means, although that was never really sensed from her in the 'hispanic' community either, so I don't know if I should say that, but anyway, obviously, J.Lo never cared to do research on her roots, because Latin music--like salsa, meregue, bachata, have African roots in it, so you can never label anything, or say something is not. Also, J.Lo acts like she doesn't have her screws tight in the right place, yeah she got the drive and she got the fame, but she let people make her, instead of making up herself. Although her debut did have a mixture of R&B and other songs with 'latin' rhythm most of what was marketed was the bubblegum popular music,

Yeah I totally agree.
I'm not a latin music specialist but when we talk about latin music today, it seems to me that it's all AFRO-CUBAN influenced rolleyes ...

If her "music" has nothing to do with afro american music that's a good news for the afro american music since her records suck & have absolutely no soul, she's stupid but certainly not a racist.

There's no smoke without fire though. MOBO are the ones who actually released this story to the press. Daily Mirror is a trashy tabloid but they will have had real sources for fear of libel.

Well, it looks like MOBO is sticking to their story. The Lopez camp is saying she didn't say it, and MOBO says that she did.

Stay tuned!

J-LO has no problem using black rappers on her re-mixes to sell her records to a black audience. The re-mixes are more popular than the orignal songs.

What she is saying it's o.k for African-Americans to buy records I just do not want to be associated with them in any other way. It is appalling and I am glad a petition has been put up. The bad press may bring her ass into reality.

Don't forget this is the same chick who used the "n" word in one of her songs.

I totally agree.
Some things never seem to change. From slavery to so-called freedom, it's the Same Old Story, like Stevie said on Secret Life of Plants.
Folks love to benefit from black people's creativity, expression, and hard work and act as if they don't also have to respect the people who brought it to them. "It's not black music'' my arse, as they say. Get real, sis. Don't sell out. Stay strong and pay respect and you won't believe how many of us will have your back.
Take the other road and you'll get more petitions like this one.
About the N-word, she and all artists - black, brown, yellow and white - should stop tossing around such a hateful word for NO GOOD REASON OTHER THAN IT SOUNDS GOOD TO THEIR EARS IN A SONG OR RAP, not when it carries the blood, pain and suffering of a people with it.

Wake up and stand for something.
Peace
