Nah! I don't think so. Every time he opens his mouth...I'm still quite shocked by the stupidity that falls out.

not feeling him at all, he may sell and be in demand at the moment, but hes just repeating himself over and over, hasnt been creative since Aaliyah, which for the most part, she made him. I'm just waiting for the Neputunes to get their stuff together and start making great songs again. Timbaland makes me want to the bathroom "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I'm shocked each time I hear that line about him doing Nelly Furtado with his "t-shirt on". That's supposed to be sexy?
Well, I guess if the other alternative would be indeed removing the shirt it makes sense.

CORRECTION: Jodeci made Timbaland. Donald "Davante Swing" DeGrate was the one to introduce Timbo & Missy to the music industry.

Producers are "made" by building a track record of hits, not by singers. "Pony" made the industry take notice of Timb because it was very different from anything out at the time. A singer can bring a producer in, but a singer can't make a producer's career; not in the 90s, 00s and the 21st century. That being said, I think his work with Aalyiah is some of the best stuff he's done. Its not what made him but something in Aalyiah brought out the best in Tim.

Agreed. Since Aaliyah's death, he's done some great work with Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, and especially Brandy, but there was something special about his work with Aaliyah that he hasn't been able to duplicate. I think it really depends on the producer and really the time period, i can never put a Timbaland and a Ryan Leslie in the same group as George Martin or Arif Mardin. Someone like a Rich Harrison got famous off of Amerie and Beyonce, but if that beat would have been on someone unheard of than we never would have heard of Rich Harrison. In George Martins case i think he was more of The Beatles than people give him credit for, especially in the later years, as they got more experimental so did he and he actually was the one growing faster than them. With Timbaland or Ryan Leslie or even Pharrel its all in who they work with, they all have worked with artists and they havent been hits and some have its all in the person they give the beat to and where their popularity is, talent is not really an issue. Its also important that you listen to a track and not know who produced it, this would be true of Arif Mardin, who produced everyone from Aretha to the Bee Gees to Norah Jones to Chaka and none of it sounded the same, I heard half of the new Timbaland and the beats are identical to what he used on the Nelly and Jt records. No the video is official, ive seen it a few times on the IMF video channel, I know people find Beyonces facial expressions annoying and her neck movements, but Justins expressions are the most annoying, you just wanna reach through the screen and punch him, and timblalands expressions too need to go also. Sorry for getting off-topic. Alright, I'm gonna do this right:
1 "Oh Timbaland" - Not feeling the first 4 tracks really and this is probably the oddest track on the CD timimg-wise. I do like that line "Timbaland ain't gotta run nowhere baby; Timbaland got private planes" He raps like Paul Wall. 2 "Give It to Me" w/Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake - Most have already heard this one. The vocals are catchy but it sounds like a second rate track that he would sell to somebody that can't afford his "half a mil a track" as he put it.. Not feelin' it that much but I see the pop appeal in it. Kinda weak for a diss track. 3 "Release" w/Justin Timberlake - SexyBack part 2? Its not horrible but its not special either. Of these first four songs, I think I like this one the best. That's not saying much. Its not a bad song. Amazon says: If you liked SexyBack and...SexyBack the remix...you may want to try this. 4 "The Way I Are" w/Keri Hilson & D.O.E. - This is strictly for the Techno-dance crowd. Since I'm a little biased against techno, I'll skip out on calling it a lifeless, repetative pile of poop. Oops. Too late. 5 "Bounce" w/Dr. Dre, Missy Elliott & Justin Timberlake - Now shit starts to get interesting on this CD. Missy is a hot ass rapper when she wants to be. This is one of those times. I don't care much for the oddity of the track and the way the sync sound combines with the flurry of over modulated background synths, but Missy's and Dre's verses make up for it. Missy is so nasty. I like that about her. It could end up a single just off the star factor. 6 "Come & Get Me" w/50 Cent & Tony Yayo - I hate these niggas. Nuff said. I am of course not speaking of them personally but them as rappers. Anything with 50 Cent's voice on it is only worth 50 cents. If music were real estate, you'd have to move your voice off the track when he moved in and started rapping to keep your intellectual property values from dropping. Tony Yayo would lose a rap battle against Vanilla Ice if not for his verses. His flow is wack. Timb sounds too much like a wanna-be Nate Dogg on this one. Oh, is that Justin on background vox in the beginning? WTF? I bet he wasn't in the studio at the same time as Fiddy and Yayo. I really couldn't picture that AT ALL. Since Tony's bitch ass just got arrested for beating up a 14 year old kid, you can rest assured that if they tour, Tony won't be making the gig. 7 "Kill Yourself" w/Sebastian & Attitude - This track had me on the floor rolling laughing. I love the use of those Resident Evil interpolations. I like that line: "I'm number one, you ain't number shit; when they need a hit, I'm who they come to get" I guess he told the haters. The chorus is too funny. "Go on "Kill Yourself". I'm sorry. That shouldn't be funny but like Eminem, its that politically incorrectness that is amusing in and of itself. I doubt this will be a single. 8 "Board Meeting" w/ Magoo - You know, I was really glad to hear Magoo on a track with Timb again. Although this sounds like a leftover track from Nelly Furtado's CD, Magoo & Timb seem to work well together and Magoo's voice compliments Timb's tracks perfectly. They know each other's flow really well. Gotta love those big 80s synths, too! 9 "Fantasy" w/Money & Keri - A Timbo and Janet collabo? No? Are you sure? Must be Ciara. Is this Ciara singing? I swear this sounds like her . No? It sounds like it would have been right along there with Ciara's last single. If that's not Ciara, Ciara needs to kick that bitch's ass for biting the style she bit off Janet. I can only assume that "Money" is the woman singing. She might want to avoid awards shows since she may have Janet and Ciara gunning for her. Man, I'd love to see that fight...in Jello-vision! Sorry, I got carried away. I'm kidding. Keri was at Ciara's party. I'm sure they are cool...for now. Its a hot track, though. I like it. 10 "Scream" w/Keri Hilson & Nicole Scherzinger - "...we can dance if we want to..." That's not it? I smell an influence here. Okay. Nicole can sing her ass off. She sounds like a souped-up Ciara on this song. Although that may sound like a diss, its not. Its actually a good thing. I like Nicole's vocal arrangements on here. She did a nice job. Its almost Aalyiah-ish at certain points. This song is destined to end up in anthem heaven on someone's movie soundtrack. Its a nice feel-good track. Good work on this one, Timb. He could have left all that shit off at the end, though. Once Nicole stopped singing, my interest left the track. 11 "Miscommunication" w/Keri Hilson & Sebastian - He uses this Keri girl as his little background singer all through this CD the same way Missy used to sing background on the songs they produced. She took the lead in this song, finally. I'd like to hear her remake "Lookout Weekend" by Debbie Deb. (yeah, I'm showing my age now. So what; f*ck you, too and whut?!) I think the song has nice chord changes although it is in the vein of his Nelly F. productions. 12 "Bombay" w/Amar & Jim Beanz - Okay, maybe its because I've been listening to a lot of Bhangra recently but I immediately took to this song. I'm feelin' it. I've heard Amar in another collabo a couple of years ago but I forgot the name of the song. Good idea. She's got a nice voice and the Indian vibe is cool as it can be. I wonder what a Timbo/Punjabi MC collab would sound like? This is a good experiment for Timbaland. His beats go well with that Indian vibe. It ended too soon. 13 "Throw It On Me" w/The Hives - I didn't care much for this one. Its okay but I think Timb took too much control or too little on this one. It somehow seems unbalanced. This one was about 2 minutes and it ran too long for me. Timb rehashed his beat from Lil' Kim's "The Jump Off" and used it for this track. 14 "Time" w/She Wants Revenge - Boring. Don't just collab with a rock band just for the hell of it, Timb. Why is this dude sounding like the lead singer for Men Without Hats? I kept waiting for him to sing the chorus to "Safety Dance". Bad collab, Timb. Somebody may like it; not me. 15 "One & Only" w/Fall Out Boy - This was a much better collab and will probably end up a single. Today's Mtv generation LOVES this kind of thing. I like it took. This is a good crossover collabo. The track is a hot rock track. It took a couple of tries but he finally got it right. When the beat flips right around 2:20 - cool shit. They kept bouncing seamlessly back and forth from rock to Timb-style hip-hop beats and it really worked. The end is funny, too. I bet there's already a video shot for this. 16 "Apologize" w/OneRepublic - George Michael should either kick you in the ass or fuck you in the ass for completely ripping him off like this. As it built up, I could hear the words "...and I want to hold you, touch yyooouuuuu" ringing through my head but the vocals never got that strong. As a matter of fact, the chorus is kinda anti-climactic. This doesn't even fit on this CD. Its a vibe killer. 17 "2 Man Show" w/Elton John - Who the hell said Elton John couldn't collab with a hip-hop producer? Sshheeiiittttt! Elton brought some serious piano work to this song. The orchestrations were great, too. The background vocals didn't quite fit. It sounded like Ginuwine wrote the lyrics, that Keri chick sang them and they were going to release it until Timb pulled it back and said "Take out all of the music, leave the beat and the background vocals and just let Elton do the rest." That was a good idea. It was a very nice ending to a CD. Thats what I think of it. Its different, and yet the same - all at the same time. I guess versatile would be a better term. What it really did was make me feel a little sad for Timb. I hear a man that really misses Aalyiah because he's constantly trying to find a replacement for her in his music. When you listen to the CD overall and his use of the female vocalists and the way he used them, its obvious to me. We miss her too, Timb. People feel ya. I can't say if this is going to go down as a classic or not but I think it will symbolize another transitional period for Timbaland. He's going in yet another direction. Growth is good. I ain't mad at him. [Edited 3/26/07 22:25pm]

Honestly the Elton thing doesnt surprise, some people diss Elton for his comments but he always speaks the truth and people sometimes cant handle that. Alson Elton knows more about Music than any artist in the industry, you make think hes an oldtimer but every tuesday he hits the record shops in atlanta and buys every new release, remaster, whatever it may be, he listens to everything, if anyone saw his documentary this guy knows everything, he was planning for a trip once and he was pullng Mary J,Massive Attack, Stan Getz and tons of other varied stuff. So i know we all think Prince has varied taste, shit, hes nothing compared to Eltons listening catalog, he would put us all to shame. As for the Nicole track, i got to hear this awhile ago and i said to Nicole, stop doing cameos because im going broke buying cds for one song that you do outside of your own stuff. I got some other details of Nicoles solo cd, but im not going to speak on them here, for fears of F***** for tracks bullshit. That's true. But remember, DeVante was already a hit producer of hip-hop/r&b hits for Jodeci (a group he was a member of), Mary J. Blige and H-Town. DeVante also had a production team known as The Swing Mob. Timbo was a member of that team and his sound (not DeVante's alone) were the cornerstone of Jodeci's second album, Diary Of A Mad Band. And all of this were only a few years before Aaliyah or Ginuwine.

See, I think he produced some classic beats for her, but albums like Missy's first three and the first two Bubba Sparxxx joints are so out-there and genre-bending that I just can't bring myself to call Tim's partnership with Baby Girl the most INTERESTING, per se. Plus, as far as innovative pop/R&B goes, Ginuwine's early stuff got the job done just as well. I'm not sure if I'm gonna d/l the whole thing. All I've heard so far is "Oh Timbaland", "Give It To Me", "Bounce", "Board Meeting", and "Throw It On Me".. and I didn't really feel any of 'em except for "Give It To Me" slightly.
