Others to Follow McCartney to Starbucks label!! Oh cool, i love it when artists start breaking away from their labels and shit just starts to crumble. McCartney left EMI taking his solo and wings catalogue with him for reissues and signed with the Starbucks chain and label, he will also have a new cd set for a June release. But following him will be Bob Dylan,Alnis Morrisette,Jewel and many others. Most of these artists feel that its time to seprerate from their labels and go where "music" and age will be respected. I don't know about this...everytime a utopian label or studio is created it never seems to accomplish success...dreamworks being a huge example of this.
but i'll throw down some positive energy cause we need a change in the music industry...but something tells me nothing will change unless the FCC regulations are changed and companies like Clearchannel are broken up. Maybe after Bush is gone...but doubtful. Space for sale...

Starbucks first venture was partly owning "Genius Loves Company" by Ray Charles and obvioulsy that was huge even before his death. I just think this is a good alternative, because these are artist already established and some quite wealthy, and they can easily promote themselves. Are these names guesses? If that happens, cool. The industry needs to start repsecpting older (hell, non teen) audiences and performers. You never know....Starbucks does hellvu a job selling coffee...and their coffee is way too bitter!

No they have all stated they will do something for this label, McCartney is already signed, alanis and dylan are finishing new projects that will be sold through this label and Jewel just left WB and is either gonna go totally indie on her own or release to this label. ya Jewel is really old. According to the Industry standard now, Jewel is an old hag at this point, sad but true. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
