Underrated great bassists?

Ok, so we've been talking about great, underrated guitarists, but what about the bassists? Who are some greats who get little recognition? Who are some of your favorites/inspirations?

I used to think Adam Clayton (U2) is kind of a hack, but now I recognize his playing for what it is - simple, pulsing grooves & great basslines that drive so many of their songs. I wanna play just like that now.

Larry Graham! With all the hate he gets here for his spiritual influence on Prince, people tend to forget how amazing he is on the bass.

Yes, it is a shame that folks hate on Larry, because he is truly a bass innovator. He's actually the reason why I play bass.

That guy from the 2002 celebration, Victor Wooten, was also cool , albeit a bit too much show-ish for my taste.

I'm glad someone said Prince. ?When I say that he is one of my favorites, folks always look in shock, but the boy can play bass. He was killing that Fender at 3121 when he did "Forever In My Life." I was standing in front of him in awe, because he went from shredding some guitar to funking up some bass. I've never seen anyone do that live.

Co-sign...he is VERY UNDERRATED....a phenomenal bassplayer...

Also..from the same town...

Danyel Morgan of Robert Randolph and the Family Band.....both grew up within 5 minutes of each other and both are tremendous talents...as a bassplayer, I am fortunate to be able to call both friends.
