just got home, and on the radio on the way...i heard joni mitchell singing..." a case of u"...i thought this was a prince original...is it a copy??? i'm a little disappointed...i for sure thought this was a prince song.

Yes, it is a cover. But the two versions have absolutely nothing in common. The treatment that Prince gives the song almost makes it a new song. And I'm not saying one version is better than the other, but it's very clear to me that Joni's vision of the song has nothing to do with what Prince displays in his cover version.
