Sitting in the Idol audience, before the show even started, young Ashley quickly made her presence felt to all of us there. 15 minutes before showtime, I saw a young girl approach ousted contestant Alaina Alexander, ask for her autograph and then break into hysterical sobbing after she got it. Good to see Alaina has such devoted fans, I thought. And then the show started and the dam really burst.

After the show I spoke to Ashley outside the backstage exit. Actually, Ashley was still gulping back tears so most of the interview had to be conducted through a translator - her mother. She revealed that the family obtained tickets on a website to attend a taping of “Smarter Than a 5th Grader” a day passage that included not just the taping of the show itself, but also the dress rehearsal of either “Grader” or “Idol.” The fates were kind, and the mother and daughter found their way to the “Idol” rehearsal, where Ashley’s waterworks began. Her prowess was quickly brought to the attention of “Idol” producers who summoned the clan to a ringside seat of honor at the final taping.

When I asked who she was supporting, Ashley could only give her top four picks and refused to narrow it down to a single singer. "Sanjaya, Melinda, Gina and Jordin. All four" she said over and over.

I love Lulu. She can still wail. I love the version of "To Sir With Love" she did with Soul Asylum. She was always funny on "Absolutely Fabulous" too.

I was shocked at the bottom 2. But I'm not shocked that Stephanie's gone. Two weeks in a row, she's let opportunities to shine pass her by. Love Hangover and You Don't Have To Say You Love Me are two perfect pitches asking to be knocked out of the park and she just let them sail by. And her main competition (Melinda, Jordin, Lakisha) is miles ahead of her at this point anyway.

Phil,Gina or Sanjaya should have gone home tonight! None of them were in the bottom two, give me a freakin' break! I use to vote for the contestants,but I'm so done with voting because it obviously doesn't matter,there are people voting just to mess up the results purposely now!

Btw, Phil has a big mouth and he should have stopped opening it tonight and yelling whooooo whooooo.

Also. I think I heard something about people in India, of all places, voting for Sanjaya. Since when did someone outside of the U.S. get the ok to vote for this show? That would be total bullshit if it's true.

I think the main reason is many younger gals r facinated by him
secondly there is the gay community
then there r votefortheworse which i dont think have much impact on its own
then there is howard stern he is a more serious treat!!
indian community is small only like 2million maybe and they dont vote i think

but all the factors add up and he has improved at the same time

Maybe he will improve enuff b4 the finals

In conjunction with votefortheworst.com, a lot of Howard Stern fans are voting to keep Sanjaya. If Stern can sabatoge the results he wants the three judges to come on the show and make concessions to explain the voting process. You can read about in the show archives on howardStern.com. Stern also brought attention to Sanjaya's hottie sister with the HOOTERS pic.

Sadly, I'm not too sure that alot of voting would change things. I think the voting results on AI are fixed and I have felt that way for a long time now. I dont believe that Stephanie was actually voted off by the American public much like I STILL dont believe that Chris Daughtry was actually voted off from last season's show. I think the Powers That Be over at American Idol are picking and choosing who they want to stay and who goes regardless of the votes.
Sure they tell us the folks who are in the bottom 3 and the person who gets sent home is a result of our votes...but do we ever see the actual results of the voting? No! Ryan Seacrest just reads to us the names of the people who are safe, who are in the bottom 3 and who is going home off a piece of paper that was given to him. We really have no idea of what the actual results are.

I can understand why Sanjaya is still there, he's got alot of folks voting for him for the wrong reasons. But you want me to believe that Haley and Phil werent in the bottom 3? And that people wanted to keep Chris R. over Stephanie just because she had 1 bland performance? You mean people actually chose her to go home over Phil, Haley, and Chris R??
I dont believe it I just dont believe people really are voting this way...just like I dont believe that people voted to eliminate Chris D. over Elliot Yamin; Constantine over that other dude (I forget his name), and that time when Fantasia, Jennifer H, and Latoya L. were all in the bottom 3--and J-Hud got sent home. This is how the public voted? I dont believe that for a second.
I'm tellin ya, the "results" are fixed. Oh how I pray for the day that an investigation into the whole voting/results process is launched.
