TODAY IN 'WHAT A DOUCHE' NEWS: Justin 'tried so hard to be an R&B artist' From the new Details mag....this dude is just full of it...and he also takes credit for the Grammy's being up 18% in viewership..
On the tabloids: “I despise what they do. They create soap operas out of people’s lives. [Cameron and I] had our thing, and it’s over. They edit that stuff like MTV edits reality shows. It’s a spin game, and I choose not to take part in it.” On being considered the New King of Pop: “I tried so hard to be an R&B artist [with first solo album Justified] and it was the pop album of the year, and I was like, ‘F***. That’s the last thing I wanted but I was like, ‘So everyone considers me a pop artist? Well, fuck it. I’m going to do whatever I want to do.” On surviving the boy-band apocalypse and becoming a man: “I could give you a bunch of analogies about why I’m still around that would sound like hippie self-help bullshit. ‘I saw an opportunity and I took it?’ Fuck you. Sure, there’s a lot of luck involved. But on some level I have to believe in my ability. And I’m not apologizing to anyone. I worked fucking hard to get here.” On being used by the Grammys for ratings: “I’m the nice guy who follows through on the things he commits to. But I don’t know if I’ll be going through that sort of thing again. I feel like the Grammys used me for ratings. And look at it-they were up 18 percent.” [Edited 3/20/07 10:49am] Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Exactly. Justin has become the "White" Kanye West. But of course no one will call him out on these things he says, because of the double standard. He will be looked at someone that is defending his craft, Bullshit he has no craft, he will do whatever will sell, he knows NOTHING about Music and doesnt feel Music. He is just another painting by numbers PRODUCTION, if he wants to prove himself, deal with an album or two NoT selling, dont care what gets ratings or tv time and just do music, my guess is Justin will do whatever it takes to sell, this time around its Timbalame when then dies out im sure he'll be joining up with whoever is hot at the moment. As for the Grammy awards, im sure the other acts on that show might have something to say about being the ratings guy, and also he forgets to mention how it was the second lowest rated grammy telecast in history, sure it was up 18%, but it was up 18% from the worst ever ratings, nothing to do with him, i guess he forgot the POLICE reunion, if he actually did some more searching, the shows ratings dropped right after the first half hour, so whos the fool JT! Couldnt of said it better myself..by the way ...I love how he distances himself AGAIN from something he did like the contest, commericals...saying he didnt really want to do it...oh..just like he didnt take his part of responsiblilty over the Janet fiasco.....what wuss.... I heard he digs at Prince again on the interview.(someone please confirm)...until Justin makes his own album withouht the production and songwriting of ANYONE but himself and allow it to stand or fall on its own...he should not consider himself a genuine aritst with a 'craft'.... peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Just a little side note i just watched an interview with Joss Stone talking with Tavis Smiley, and what a difference in two people, where as Joss could have sat there and took shots at people and music and ratings, things like that, she didnt. She just said that she makes music for herself and hopefully people like it, shes not here to sell records ( though her label doesnt like that kind of talk) she feels that as long as she cant do music she wants to do and have a thousand fans dig it, then cool. Now someone like Justin would never do that, first of all this kid has never dealt with NOT selling or NOT being "in", he has always jumped on whatever is hot at the moment, Im sure if Polka production was selling, he would be doing some Polka record. I am digging the new Joss album... Justin is the type who when the time comes...will fall HARD. He's right--if he's saying that that "sing with justin" thing was the stupidest thing the Grammys has ever done!
I used to think of him as a really nice guy, but he's getting really cocky, and rather than try to prove himself, he's starting to believe he's one of the greats. But he's only competant at best, and in the words of Vanitysprisonbytch "Justin is the type who when the time comes...will fall HARD" My Legacy

the thing that really bugs me about him is not so much his talk, its that nothing sticks to him, he's like John Gotti back in the day before he go jailed. I mean look at all the incidents, the Janet fiasco, he ran away from that like a "little bitch" sorry for tha language, but he did. Then of course way back when he and britney broke up, this guy who HATES the tabloids used them to his advantage and made her look like the one that cheated or dumped him, and out came "cry me a rivver" and everyone cried for Justin. Then the Lance coming out issue, Justin refused to even speak on his behalf, the least he could have said was "everyone can be who they wanna be" instead of shying away from his friend. Justin hates the media and yet uses it to his advantage, u cant have it both ways. Its like drinking your ass off and then complaining about the hangover, if you dont like the hangover dont drink, if you dont like the media, then dont use it. There are plenty of people that dont written in tabloids, and many are in the spotlight than mr. timberlake. The ratings went up because the Police reunited, not because Justin was going to sing with some "wannabe" for a few minutes. If timberlake would do the research, he would see that the ratings DOVE after the Police performance. eh, soon enough he won't be "of the moment" and he'll most likely fade away.
Unless, of course, he does something great. I've always said I'm open to greatness. If he did it I'd buy it. But he hasn't and I won't. My Legacy

You're right, I was just trying to remember what it was that they really hyped that night (and what people talked about the next day) Also, with the exception of 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Extreme Makover-Home Ed'...CBS is typically high in it's Sunday night programming. The Police, James Brown tribute, they'd be more attention grabbers than Justin ass. He also used the program to show what a '''musician''' he has become with the guitar and piano playing...he surely made it a point to do that on national tv...to distance himself even further from bubblegum pop. peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Well of COURSE he'd want to be an R&B artist. A teen idol with perceived credibility in the black community? His career would last 2 decades if he did that. Well, 3 decades, since he's a decade and a half into the game, approximately. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Unfortunately, in today’s climate I don’t think he’s going to fade away. People have lingered around for less, doing whatever it takes to stretch out their fifteen minutes.
More than likely if a black artist had released Justified it would be considered an R&B album. [Edited 3/20/07 13:57pm] Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

he wouldn't do it if he didn't want to (have to?) Exactly so if hes complaining about the Grammys using him, then give back any money he made from cd sales after the grammies which he benefited from. He makes this statement about CBS like he's a rebel or something, if you dont want them to get "ratings" from you then tell your label dont nominate me and im not performing, notice he makes these statements after his losses on that night, i wonder if he would have won album of the year what he'd be saying.
