oh come on...it's the worst album of the 90's. Only the Nelee Hopper tunes are great. The rest is damage control and selling out solutions.

maybe you just don't like the idea of Madonna doing R&B?

I really don't care who she works with,as long as the music is fast.If she and her producers don't lose sight of the fact that most of her fans are dance music fans, everything will be fine.I'll only be pissed if she comes out with some boring, midtempo, smoothed out R&B/hip hop garbage (like Janet's "Call On Me" or Beyonce's "Irreplaceable").Keep it FAST and geared to the dancefloors!

except most of Madonna's hits and her early classic stuff isn't all that fast. she needs to not do club music this time around. she'll always have the club crowd, handily accomplished by a slew a remixes aimed at the dance floor. she needs to work the rest of the crowd this time around.

So,you think she should abandon dance music and do a oomplete R&B album?

oh, and that release date is a pipe dream.Whether its Warner's or Madonna's or some deluded fan's, it's a pipe dream.

hmmm a late 2007 release date sounds possible. She's already done several tracks with Stuart, two tracks with Pharrell and she goes into the studio with Timbaland at the end of this month. That's half the album right there.

no, but we just had an album aimed almost entirely at the clubs, and sure it did well there and it did well in Europe, but i have a feeling she'd like to get a hit in the US again, and sell some serious records.

i see a lot of fans across the net keep saying "she needs to realize that her fans want dance records." well, that's fine. but her fans are going to keep buying them whether they're dance records or not. she needs to sell a few million to the people who aren't her fans as well, and it's ballads and mid-tempo dance numbers that have always sold Madonna records to the rest of the world. you don't get anywhere selling records to the same subpopulation over and over again. frankly, i don't think Confessions was much of a return to her roots at all. yeah, it was aimed at the dance floor like her earlier music was, but her earlier music was mostly r&b-influenced post-disco dance pop. not house and techno-influenced rave music.

she'd done that much of Confessions by the end of 2004 and it still didn't come out for another year.

It appears that the new album will be a mixture of different sounds.Stuart said that there will be some dance music, some R&B,and some rock.As much as I love the continuous dance format of COADF,I wouldn't mind a few ballads this time around. You are correct,it appears that this time, she wants to sell some big numbers in the US this time.I can't wait to see what she comes up with.

it's not just selling albums though. it's that Stuart Price is a bit of a one-trick pony and most of it starts to sound the same after awhile. on top of that, dance music these days pretty much starts to sound the same anyway, so i think her putting out a whole album of it was a major mistake. it was a nice gimmick in the short run, but there isn't much that stays with you on that album. she was never solely about that kind of music at any point in her career, so i'm not sure about the tendency of her and her fans to say that it was a return to her roots, because it really wasn't at all. in fact, it was a return to Erotica, and only half of Erotica, because you'll recall that that had ballads and jazzier stuff on it as well.

If she's working with multiple producers, I could see her releasing a more dance oriented single out in Europe and an r&b single in the US. Kind of like what Nelly Furtado did.

Anyways i'm skeptical if this will actually manage to sell in the US due to the fact that radio stations basically turn a blind eye to her these days. And I don't believe it's because she was making dance music, I just think they're ageist.

Confessions sold 1.6 million in the States. That's remarkable considering that it wasn't R&B or hip-hop.Dance music doesn't sell well in the States.I think the new CD can easily top those numbers, especially since she will have high-profile producers this time around.

I think Confessions is one of the smartest albums she's ever made. It's better than the two albums that came before it,imo.

Oh yes, I agree, it was very smart. It just isn't that good overall.

They were remarkable numbers, but I just don't think that making r&b music will guarantee her heavy airplay, which is what i assume she's trying to conquer. We shall wait and see

it won't guarantee her airplay, but doing something that isn't 100% aimed at dance clubs is going to give her a much wider audience. let's not downplay the fact that for over a decade MOST of Madonna's mojo has come from an Adult Top 40 / Adult Contemporary crowd and playlist.

How do you predict the sales outcome of this album in the US? Bigger or less than Confessions?

Oh please, stop it lol that album only has one filler track on it ("Don't Stop").Everything else is either very good ("Human Nature","Survival") or excellent ("Take A Bow","Forbidden Love","Inside Of Me").

You didn't even mention my favorite, "Secret." nod
