Given his political bent, he'd probably give Ronnie Talk To Russia a nice spin.

Maybe Head using Yoko for inspiration...lurking

it kind of is anyway wink

Maybe we should explain. We were talking about the same question for Michael Jackson, and as I listed them I saw I was creating a great Prince mix.

So I thought maybe that's a new way to create mixes, Imagining (sorry) different artists were singing the songs, and I thought of my favorite, John Lennon.

But, yeah, Lennon doing Prince stretches the imagination a bit.

Not even Purple Rain? That's a lot like his post-Beatles stuff, I think.

definitely, the singing style, slow simple drum, chord sequence, and subject matter are all right out of Plastic Ono (though the lyric "purple rain" is more 1967 psychedelic)

I can certainly hear Lennon doing 'Sign o' the Times' - the song. It suits his late-'60s - early '70s protest song style.

And 'Don't Play Me' too.

And I can hear the Beatles doing 'Pop Life' and 'All My Dreams', very Beatley as they are. smile

Maybe it's because I think he could deliver the verse "my only competition is, . . . well, myself in the past" with verve that I agree completely with you.
