When did Tina Turner cover "Let's Pretend We're Married"

Was her version used on commercials or did she perform it on television at some point?

Did Target use a Tina Turner cover of "Baby I'm A Star"?

I think I remeber buying my mom that Target Cd...I think "Baby I'm A Star" was on there...I don't think it was noteworthy. Funny you mention this because I just listened to her "All the Best" double CD set. Hardly any filler. One of my favorite hits sets. Don't know the story behind "Pretend"...trying to think where I heard it because it does sound familar....

I saw Tina in concert I think in 1999 or 2000. I can't remember if "Let's Pretend We're Married" was in the set.

Was it just a Target promo item, or like a special Best Of Tina typa set exclusive to Target?

Help me out here because Canada doesn't even have Target so I don't know much about the campaign.

Tina Turner has covered the song in live performances, and one of these is included on her Collected Recordings - Sixties to Nineties album. The latter track also appears as the B-side of her own "Show Some Respect" single, released in 1984.

So it's from 1984? and was a b-side?

Did she re-record it?

Nah, it's a live track from the early 80s that appears on the box set. You don't have? Not a huge TT buff, huh?

If you saw her tour in 2000 "Let Pretend We're Married" was definitely not on the setlist, though the back up singers did a version of "Baby I'm a Star" while she was changing. Great show, no?

Found it. The CD was titled "All That Glitters" and was a Target exclusive.

Here is the review from Amazon...you can get the CD for a penny now. I think I paid $5.99. Target, which is like a high end and not as bulky Wal-Mart, does this every so often although the CDs tend to have rarer tracks or remixes or something. What will happen is that Target will sell this exclusive disc for so long...often drags fans into the store just to buy that cheap disc and then probably the regular release if they don't have it. It works for the artist becuase if they are stocking the special exclusive CD, they are definately stocking and promoting the regular disc, too.

"This disc was originally sold as a Target Exclusive. Tina promoted Target stores by appearing in there ads with "Baby I'm A Star"(recorded by Prince 20 years ago). Tina adds her usual incredible non-stop energy to the song. This 7 song cd contains her comeback hits "Let's Stay Together","Private Dancer","What's Love Got To Do With It" and also 90's hit "The Best". The other 2 are live recordings: her 2000 hit "When The Heartache Is Over" and the rock anthem "Hold On I'm Coming"."

her "Let's Pretend We're Married" is also on "Symbolism: The Prince Songbook", a collection put out in 1997 or 1998 that collects some Prince tracks that were recorded by others. some are cover versions, and some were specifically given to the artists.

a few examples.... "Love Thy Will Be Done" by Martika, "Manic Monday" by the Bangles, "I Hear Your Voice" by Patti Labelle, "Nothing Compares 2 U" by M.X.M., "The Sex Of It" by Kid Creole, "17 Days" by Living Colour, etc.
