jesus....who cares? how much more can we divide music?

if someone said to me that the Red Stripes rock was different from Alice In Chains rock, i'd say who cares! it's rock.

I suppose Prince funk is different from Parliament funk. rolleyes

There are WAY more sounds going on outside of those Industry definitions. The shady ass record business just hasn't found a way to make a proper dollar off of 'em.

Personally, I would say those industry marketing words haven't been updated since sometime in the 1990s.

What Mara said.

confused

"Aggrotech" is not a genre of music, "Future Pop" is just part of "Electronic Body Music" and there is no such thing as "Industrial techno". It's lacking all the proper industrial subgenres and substituting them with techno and rock genres. Nice going.

Power Electronics
Death Industrial
Dark Ambient
Martial
Neofolk
Noise
Rhythmic Noise (and derivatives)

Electro Industrial is a another substitute term for EBM. Coldwave is just gothic rock music and Technoid is a genre definition nobody uses. It's mainly IDM anyway.

And this is where it really gets stupid. smile

To be honest, you could file "breakcore" under several of these maingroupings. But if you're coupling up "Acid Jazz" with "Glitch" and calling it all IDM whilst missing most of the IDM subgenres Wikipedia has done yet another world record of fucking up genre definitions for people.

I'm not even going to try to touch the d'n'b entry.

neutral confused

"Aggrotech" is a sub-genre. I agree Futurepop is basically EBM.

But Elektro-Ind is distinct from EBM. Harder and deeper sampling whereas EBM is a cleaner sound. Groups such as FLA, Leather Strip, VAC etc are hardly EBM.

Coldwave = gothic rock? It's more Industrial Metal. Wouldn't say Technoid is mainly IDM; probably leans more toward Rhythmic Noise.
