REM #9 Dream vs a-Ha #9 dream: Can America give a-Ha a freaking break already

Its bad enough a-Ha's sound was stolen by all these bands like Colplay,Keane etc..but now with the John Lennon Amnesty CD set for release the decision to make #9 Dream the first single in the USA, Wow so a-Ha will finally be heard and allowed to be released in the US? Nope their version is being placed on the European Version of the Disc only released in June, despite testing better, the a-Ha version is being kept of the US version of the disc, which will include REM's version of the Lennon song. But wait, does that mean Rem wont be on the Euro version, No the disc will have both versions. Now heres the issue, why not put both on the US disc, whats the big deal, there are already a few songs on the US disc that are duplicated by different artists, jesus christ let this band be heard already, people in the US would be surprised to hear that a-ha is the reason bands like Coldplay and Radiohead existed.

Well, Radiohead are HUGE REM fans, so I'd hate to give all the credit to a-Ha. And I've recently done some investigating into a-Ha's back catalog, it seems that the sound that Coldplay has been aping recently really only dates back to the Minor Earth Major Sky album, from 2000. Their '80s and '90s work really isn't all that similar, IMO.

Which is when COLDPLAY appeared on the seen, after Minor Earth was long out, demos of a-Ha's Minor cd were out since 1998 when they reformed after solo work between 94-98, a-ha only did 2 records in the 90's but this is where they made their shift in sound, they threw the keyboards and synths out the window in late 80's and went acoustic/rock for the 90's. 92's Memorial Beach is a tough record, im not surprised that a-Ha did part ways after this record. One thing about the members of a-Ha, they dont really get along that well, especially creatively, back in 2005 when they did "analogue" it was the first time they were in the same room doing a record. Bono cites 2000 Minor Earth record the best album that year, even better than the U2 record he said, Adam Clayton said these guys are so much more than people ever let them be, to many they are just poster boys, but they are one of the best bands of the day. And we cant forget u2's "touch me" in Beautiful Day which is dedicated to a-Ha's 85 hit "Sun always shines on tv" as Bono said it was a friendly theft on our part. Things are full circle for a-Ha now though, they finally got their respect once in again in the UK market, now if only the US can at least let them have a release.
