yeah...somebody recently created a thread about the dood (sic) a month or so ago...thats how i found out about it.

most of these folks werent even famous though...im sure you could make a list just as long (if not longer) of obscure non black celebs who passed on.

-----
Maybe they were not famous to you. I don't anyone black that would not know who Paul Winfield was or Sweet Daddy.

Yeah... I don't think ANS death eclisped James Brown's, by the time she died James already had that Circus 4 blocks from where i live in Harlem and his funeral was broadcast live on CNN... the only talk about James was that he was not buried...

agreed...Gerald Ford died too and his coveraged stopped too...Whose to blame for that one?

-----
Gerald Ford is to blame. He was one of the worst Presidents we had.

I just found out last month that renee diggs of starpoint had passed away
of complications from MS. I almost fell out of my chair. I was looking for
a greatest hits compilation online and that is how i found out. Her bandmate and
co lead singer ernesto phillips died a year earlier from a stroke. Both passed away at the age of 50. Very sad. They were a group i enjoyed seeing live in the 80's.

I had knowledge of almost all of those, but the real surprise for me is Dino of H-Town. I can't believe I'm just hearing about that.

Former Soul II Soul singer dies
LONDON, England (AP) -- Doreen Waddell, a former vocalist with the group Soul II Soul, died Friday in a traffic accident, apparently after running from a store where she had been accused of shoplifting, police said Wednesday. She was 36.

Police said it appeared she had been running from a supermarket after being confronted about shoplifting. She was struck by three

cars on the nearby A27 highway and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. It took several days to identify her body.

Waddell, who used the stage name Do'reen, sang on the influential British dance band's best-selling 1989 album "Club Classics Volume I" and was lead vocalist on the songs "Feel Free" and "Happiness."

Soul II Soul topped the charts with the song "Back to Life" on the same album, in which Caron Wheeler was the lead singer.

Waddell had not been active in the music industry for several years, and neighbors quoted by The Daily Telegraph newspaper said

she did not talk about her time with Soul II Soul.

Soul II Soul said it would not comment on Waddell's death.

Thank you for posting that list. There's celebs on there that I didn't even know were gone. I didn't know the great, late actor Paul Winfield was gay.

how could you not know he was gay?

anyway, I loved this guy alone for "City Confidential" on A&E where they profiled some small town or suburb and simultaneously told the story of some grizly murder that took place there. The sense of Shakesperian drama he added to it with his narration was fantastic biggrin

I notice that Paul Winfield was gay since the final season of 227.

All that aside, his career as an actor should've been a lot better.

I love how celebrities always seem to be "sorely missed" and in the "thoughts and prayers" of our society before any other remnant.

Good point. I watch and listen to the news everyday and I am sure I've heard of the deaths of 99% of these people too. I may not be overly familiar with some, but I know their deaths are mentioned on news stations around the world.

Let's be honest dude. They don't exactly put the names of some of these lesser
known black celebs on the front page of our local newspaper or the front of
time magazine. Heck even jet magazine sometimes put these deaths in a little small print in their magazine just like johnny wilder of heatwave and j dilla.
