Thank you for posting that list. There's celebs on there that I didn't even know were gone. I didn't know the great, late actor Paul Winfield was gay. He is sorely missed. They also forgot to include Donny Hathaway.

I posted about Ruth Brown.

I remember McNair when she made a cameo @ The Jeffersons' sitcom, as George Jefferson's ex-girlfriend who came back to kill him out of spite.

Anybody remember that episode?

LOL @ me going to another subject though lol

how could you not know he was gay?

anyway, I loved this guy alone for "City Confidential" on A&E where they profiled some small town or suburb and simultaneously told the story of some grizly murder that took place there. The sense of Shakesperian drama he added to it with his narration was fantastic biggrin

James Brown should be added to this list. Granted, I can't say he got NO fanfare but very little because some silly skank kicked the bucket and took up all of the media press.
Hmmm...let's see...Godfather of Soul, Founder of funk, influenced MOST of the artists that are relevant in this day and age in some way or another. Long legacy of music and performances.

Silly drug and alcohol addicted skank that was...the Guess jeans girl at some point who stripped on the side and married a decrepit old billionaire with one foot in the grave....who gets the most attention? "Trimspa, baby" rolleyes Oh, that seems fair.

Yep. Racism is dead in America, alright. We should just "get over it". rolleyes

Sorry for that vent.

To be honest, I always thought the narrator sounded like he had been drinking.

It's very unfortunate that James didn't get what he deserved. My belief is that there are many people in America who are much more interested in the lives (and deaths) of useless celebrities such as ANS, Britney Spears and Paris H. just to name a few. If Americans cared more for the people who really matter, I believe James would've gotten more "fan fare", but too many choose to follow the antics of ridiculous so-called stars. Some may look at this as racism and that may very well be, but it's also the fact that this is what Americans care more about and it's really very sad.

I didn't know that he lived an openly gay life with his partner, but something about him always made me think that he might be.... I get the same feeling about the guy who plays Will Smith's uncle on the Fresh Prince of belair and the father on that show with Erkel....
