I have to go 'home' home on Thursday and I'm going to pick up a load of my INXS cassettes (!). I can't wait to immerse myself in those tracks again - it'll be like I'm 15 or something again. smile

I actually met JD when they came to Tower Records here in NY. He's a cool guy and he fits right in with the band. I remember watching the first episode of that "Rock Star" show and when I first looked at him I thought, "that's the winner". wink

Shabooh Shoobah is around here somewhere...

...Remember enjoying Don't Change For Me when it was released.

As for the new singer, if the band feels comfortable enough to go onstage and in the studio with him, that's all that matters.
And that goes for any act that changes members (Queen, Journey, Prince, etc.).

I met him too in Los Angeles. He was real cool and down to earth. That's funny that you mentioned the first episode of "Rock Star". I remember my brother and I looking at each other and saying JD's going to win. How funny.wink

Pretty much anyone who was 12-18 in 1987 has to have a dust covered copy of Kick in their CD collection. I am certainly one of those one album fans. I bought X and was like "Um...it's okay." I did dig later tracks like "Disappear" and "Beautiful Girl".

You might already have it, but just in case you don't, if you want to see one of their best concerts ever get the DVD "INXS - Live Baby Live". That concert was incredible! lol

Yep. Unless you have a bootleg from one of their 97 shows. I have 2 INXS bootleg DVDs. One was the 97 show - they did in Germany, it was AMAZING. (I dig it so much because my favorite INXS album is Elegantly Wasted.)

The other was a practice gig they were doing for ABC or something, and it was the last show Michael ever did. He was found dead the next day. The quality is crummy, but it is so interesting to watch the footage. batting eyes

Right. I was able to score a tour t-shirt from the "Elegantly Wasted" era on eBay. It was kind of expensive but worth it. I went to the "Switched On" Tour with JD last year, and all I could think was, "Man if Michael was doing the vocals, this show would be AMAZING." Then after I got the DVD of the Germany show, it was full evidence that the tour I wanted to see - was the 97 tour. I got into INXS around 1999 or 2000, whenever the Behind The Music thing came on. Seriously, you only need to hear a few seconds of the song "Kick" to fall in love with INXS.

My friend played a show with them in 97, before I knew him, his band opened for INXS at a local music festival they played in 97, and he said, "I could have gone back and hung out with Michael Hutchence and the guys, but nobody really cared about them. He was just some guy who was past his prime to us then." When he said this, it was a harsh reality. I mean, I know tons of fans would have loved to have met Michael, but nobody probably fully appreciated him and kind of took him for granted while he was alive. Then once he was dead and gone, everyone missed him. sad
