Mariah Carey - Glitter

Every1 knows Mariah was going after Purple Rain on Glitter
Now, my question is; Is Never Too Far supposed 2 b her
"epic song" --- her "Purple Rain"?
If it was... it totally flopped lol
I love the song but Mariah crossed the "cheesy" line

biggrin

I agree, one of her best albums, thanks to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

I liked the 80's flavor of some of the songs on the soundtrack, but it isn't my favorite Mariah Carey album because it doesn't have that focus and it gets a little repetitive. I do think that it would've been an even bigger hit if the movie was shelved or never concieved. Jimmy Jam's and Terry Lewis' production was quite on point and killer on that album and the Glitter album itself is better than Charmbracelet and Rainbow, IMHO. Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica) and All My Life are the killer joints in my book.

I always hold out for the day that Walter and Mariah will do a record together. There is a song out now called "Ordinary World" by Katharine McPhee and its with Walter, amazing vocal, 100% like Mariah and Walter used to do. As for Glitter, probably my favorite Mariah album, it just had all the things that i like about Mariah, Fun,Sexiness,Live instruments, ballads and humour.

Mariah and Walter wrote many, many incredible songs 2gether.
And yes. I hope Mariah gets rid of JD (probably not going 2 happen)
but truly, JD gets on my last nerve confused If se doesn't get rid of JD
she should, at least, keep working with Jim Wright biggrin

Mimi haters/RnB lovers would be wise to give the non-released tracks from these MC albums a chance... Mariah's most soulful jams usually get overshadowed by the pop songs the label releases.

I think this album is the kind of album Mariah always wanted to make. She is such a hip-hop and 80s R&B fan that I would consider Glitter her defining statement, which is why I rode for this album for years.

But as we have found, the most personal records (American Life, HIStory) are likely not the most commercial because they lack appeal to a wide audience: general music listeners outside of "fans of the artist".

Not a great moment for them, but I generally like Dru Hill. Their debut had a lot of great songs. "In My Bed" will always be my jam! music

Lead the Way is awesome!!!

For "Didn't mean to turn you On" did Jam & Lewis actually re-record the music? cuz it sounds almost EXACTLY like the insturmentation on Cherelle's version.

That is my favorite track on the cd. That is the best song Rick James had written in 10 years. I love the production and vocals on that track. It reminds me of the Mary Jane Girls.
