Um, welcome to 1994. Of course it's beautiful! Every time someone pulls the same tired "Aaliyah can't sing" argument, all you have to do is point to that song (particularly the acapella intro). She sounds like an angel. It's far and away my favorite Isleys cover. not the remix though
Here's where we disagree. I love the "Stepper's Ball" remix. "This is for the steppers, strictly for the steppers..." "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Aaliyah's version was beautifully sang but its just something about the SOUND of the orig. Those guitars....puts you in the mind of a lady walking in her garden picking flowers in springtime

Aaliyah's rendition of that song makes me cry whenever I hear it . She did an excellent job covering it. I like her version better than The Isley Brother's own actually. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

The intro is light and airy, but one of the (many) parts I love is when the backing track comes in at "When I..."; the bass really grounds the song for me. I think that song is one of R. Kelly's best production jobs. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

The best cover of any Isleys song, IMO. I agree 100%. She did the damn thing with this song. I really miss Aaliyah. . I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
