The Marvelettes or The Supremes? Well I like me some Supremes but The Marvelettes were underrated and under used cause Glady's and the girls SMOKED on cuts like Beechwood-45789, Forever,Playboy and My Baby Must Be a Magician among other HITS...OF course we know The Supremes HISTORY, BTW The Marvelettes have a book out written by one of the ORIGINAL members Katherine Anderson Schaffner a very good read if any one is interested, The Original Marvelettes Motown's Mystery Girl Group.

Any [fill in the blank girl-group] vs The Supremes question is an exercise in futility imo.
By almost any tangible measure, outside of personal choice, The Supremes win hands down everytime. You can say The Marvelettes didn't get the attention at Motown, and that's unfortunate, but you play the cards you're dealt. That being said, I do dig The Marvelettes and my favorites by them are the ones written by Smokey Robinson... Don't Mess With Bill The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game My Baby Must Be Magician (the guitar slur hook - ) And Please Mr. Postman & Playboy are girl-group classics. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. The infamous "Baby Love" tune was handed to The Marvelettes before the Supremes, but they declined to recorded it becoz they felt it was "beneath them" vocally.
In fact most of the Supremes 1964-66 songs were rejects that turned to hits, as we all know.
