Britney Spears has bulimia

'Wreck' Britney has bulimia
11/03/07
Exclusive
From Mike Parker
in Los Angeles

BRITNEY Spears has confessed to doctors that she has been suffering from the eating disorder bulimia since she was 16.

The 25-year-old singer tearfully told rehab staff – already treating her for drug and alcohol abuse – that she “pigs out” on junk food like burgers, sweets, biscuits and ice cream then makes herself vomit to avoid putting on weight.

Britney’s nine-year nightmare, revealed in an American magazine, was confirmed by a senior source at the £24,000-a-month Promises centre in Malibu, California.

She entered the centre last month after shaving her head at a hair salon.

“Doctors are alarmed at the physical state she is in,” said the source. “They confronted her about her desperately unhealthy lifestyle and the truth came pouring out.”

Britney said she managed to stop the dangerous habit during her two pregnancies.

But as soon as sons Sean Preston and Jayden James were born, she began the desperately unhealthy cycle again in an effort to lose her added baby weight.

On top of her alcohol and alleged cocaine use, the bulimia turned her into a “human wreck”, according to the source, who added: “When she came here she was shaking and baking. Her whole body was wracked by spasms and she was hot one minute, then freezing cold the next.

“Her first week in detox was real hell. She was in a total mess but slowly she’s pulling through.”

Dietary specialists at Promises are working with doctors to help Britney conquer the eating disorder – famously suffered by Princess Diana – which was discovered when specialists realised why her medications were not working.

The source said: “For the first few days, she’d take her tablets, then go off and eat breakfast or lunch. She was throwing the whole lot up, so, naturally, her medications weren’t working. Now the medical experts know why, her progress should pick up a little speed.”

What I don´t understand is how come such information comes out. They as doctors are not allowed to talk about their patients, so how can they know. They either made it up or someone should be fired. Anyways, Britney never look anorexic or bulimic to me.

I have to say that I agree with you on this point. There is a thing called Dr./patient confidentiality. Also, if the Promises group wants future business, they wouldn't go around telling someone's condition to the press. It's all hype to sell magazines and air time. I for one hope she's getting the help she needs. I'm not a fan, but I hate to see a person in trouble.

It´s the same with the news about her alleged attempt to commit suicide. And the news appeared in every magazine. I just don´t know what to think about those "news" seriously. One can see that Britney has some problems and look at all the stories that there are all of sudden. I think the press is overdoing it and trying to make the most of it.

And that's what sells the magazines - pure B.S. Just look at the whole Anna Nicole nightmare. She got more press in the two weeks after her death than she got in the previous 2 months. Granted Brit has done a strange thing or two, or three lol, however, the girl does deserve a chance to get better without adding lies to what she's dealing with.

If any of this is the actual truth, this is what really worries me...

"Britney said she managed to stop the dangerous habit during her two pregnancies".

Yeah, right! Like I believe that.

This is quite sad...there is so much pressue on females in the public eye, and before all of the crazy stuff started happening to her, I thought she had a nice shape...if a man gains a little chub, no one cares!

The main problem here is the labeling of this whole thing as "NEWS" this is not news nor should it be. The fact that more people know about Britneys issues than know that Bush is sending 25,000 more troops into Iraq is why we are in the mess we are in. Do i feel bad for Britney? Yes of course, i would feel for anyone in that situation but i wouldnt call it News, or follow her with cameras in rehab, give me a break already, we call her a sad case?

Also the weight issue is a real scary thing, I just read an interview with CASSIE and she said that a label person and magazine person told her she should lose some weight! Has anyone see Cassie....(just look at my avatar) If you think that needs to lose weight you should be jailed for that stupid opinion,as i feel should be the case of anyone that tells young girls to lose weight to become stick figures. These are the same morons that told Mariah she was fat, if you look at Mariah and you dont think she is just a hot woman, you really need some help.

Yeah, but its nearly as much pressure for men as their is for women...look at Tyra Banks...they damn-ly near had a heart attack (the media) when she just gained a few pounds, and especially for her height...I mean come one...I just believe in taking care of yourself, and working out, doing some sort of sport, and if your a little thick, your a little thick, there is nothing wrong with that...I mean, I have my issues about my body too...but I guess its a lot more pressure for Britney since she's in the public eye

I second that girlfriend...the media puts pressure on women so much, it aint even funny no more...its really really sad. That why I don't think I care about being famous nowadays, too much pressure. Yeah, those people have money, but their trapped in their own lives.

Exactly its a total double standard. Like i was saying, RB Singer CASSIE was told by a label and photographer that she needed to shed some pounds for a photoshoot.....now does this girl look "heavy"

Now this is a photographers idea of "heavy", do we not see an issue here??

Mmmmmm, no, she's fine...see, thats why I wouldn't want to be famous nowadays (I've always loooooved music, but you've gotta be strong to be in the public eye like that, if not, you'll break down and fall, and people will laugh at you falling, seriously)...its too much pressure and they want you to eat like lettuce and air for dinner...I'm not saying there is anything wrong with improving yourself, we all want to improve ourselves, but hell, I'd tell those people who are telling me to lose 50lbs to go and lose 50lbs their damn selves! I know its an image thing but goddamn! This is why I have always admired and adored Prince, because he comes off as being a very strong willed person to me, who doesnt conform to what people wants him to do.

I know this article with Cassie really bothered me because she said shes the type of person if someone tells her something like that she is insecure and takes criticism badly. Exactly there is nothing wrong with her, i just hate how this whole "image" thing and lets face it, its 99.9% always directing at women not men, seems to dictate what people should look like.

Now dont give me wrong, I have my ugly days...lol, but when it comes down to it, I have to love to see what I see in the mirror, its tough sometimes, I'll admit, but I'm not gonna risk my health in order to please people and get money...you have to draw the line at one point or another!
