Yeah i really like Golden Smog and Son Volt, i agree "Yankee" was an outstanding record, and how it wasnt up for album of the year when it was considered the Best album by every critic amazes me. That whole group of artists from Ryan Adams,Jayhawks,Wilco,Golden Smog,Son Volt,Gillian Welch,Lucinda Williams etc...Are some of the greatest artists to come along the last 20 years. People dont realize that Gary Louris (Jayhwaks leader) was responsible for the Dixie Chicks Latest record which was album of the year. Love Wilco! A Ghost is Born was brilliant, despite a 10 minute feedback drone which I haven't gotten through.
Being There is my favorite. They have a great documentary called I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, based on the making of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot My Legacy

Yeah Gary Louris, who was the lead singer of the Jayhawks before they broke up in 2005, is one of the best "unknowns" in the industry. Responsible for so much great music, including the Dixie Chicks recent album of the year. But he has worked with alot of the artists mentioned here. The Jayhawks started off more acoustic alt-country, got a little harder edged electric towards the end, but always great stuff. I enjoy this album alot.. its laid back (to the tenth power) but the guitar solos in just about every song make it truly beautiful.
i been listn'n to this album for bout 2 weeks now.. and its becoming like a sister to A Ghost Is Born jeff is fucking wonderful | |

and i fucking LOVE the new guitar style they got goin, its much different from their previous records.
wilco is definantly in my top 10 artists, this album put them in consistancy of making good records with me, not to mention their live shows are out of this world. | |
