12 Years Late: Discovering Moloko I really have to start listening to people on the Org.
I heard Moloko for the first time last night. I absolutely love these people. I heard the album Do You Like My Tight Sweater? and now I want everything they ever did. What are you guys thoughts?

well, you know i only have their best-of album (and i LOVE it)...now you have me wanting to check out one of their regular studio albums!
i have the lead singer's solo album too, and though it's nice music i don't think it's anywhere near as fun as the moloko stuff i've heard....though i know her solo album has its fair share of fans on the org.

I just want everything now.

How exactly does one make a song about a cheeky monkey funky? I'm fascinated by this stuff. I have been really bored musically and it's so cool to be excited about something again.

I have a CD single of "Fun For Me" from that album.

Sometime last year, I was at a club and the DJ played a great song with a stomping beat, a really cool baritone saxophone riff, great vocals, synths, everything. Turned out it was Moloko! It was "Pure Pleasure Seeker" from "Things to make and do". Get it, it's great. And don't believe Anx, Roisin Murphy's debut solo album is at least as good. I just got it last week.

Oh, I totally recommend it. I just think it's loungier than Moloko's stuff is funky. I can get in the mood for that, but I go back to her stuff with Moloko way more often.

Their best album is far and away their final one, "Statues".
All the others are great in their own way, too. The live DVD is a must. And yeah, I love Roisin's solo album. She can have my babies, basically.

I've got "Do You Like My Tight Sweater" - cracking album. Saw them in about '98 supporting Garbage and they were really excellent.

Tip: Buy statues. Close the curtains, turn the stero up as loud as it will go. Dance like a loony to 'Forever More'. Feel happy for the rest of the day!

I have one. "Do you like my tight sweater". This is the debut before they went towards more dancier stuff. The entire album is really good and has held up for years. It actually has gotten better with time. The lyrics are pretty out there too. Christian Zombie Vampires

it's kinda 'girls and boys'-ish, i can totally see that. No sexual suicide though? i thought it was more that than girls and boys in 'sound' not necessarily rhythmic structure. It has the simplicity of girls and boys but the nasty sound of sexual suicide imo

It has the simplicity of girls and boys but the nasty sound of sexual suicide imo it has kind of the chaotic, frenzied nature of 'sexual suicide', but that loop of the horns totally reminds me of 'girls and boys', now that you mention it.

I have 4 Moloko albums. They belong to my favourite groups.
I have Statues Things to make and do Im not a doctor and Do you like my tight sweater? I also have rosie's album. They are all great in their own right. The first two are commercially the best and carry the biggest hits, like pure pleasure seeker, the time is now, sing it backforever more and 100%. Definitly worth checking out!
