We Are The World I'm loving this song right now. Yeah it's pretty sappy and sugary at times, but it was produced beautifully and has greats like Stevie, Ray, Springsteen, MJ, Diana, and so many others on ONE song "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I'll proudly stand up and proclaim my love for this song. I loved it then and I love it now. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I like the Weird Al version from his last cd. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

When people deem it just as sugary, overtly naive piece of pop garbage they overlook the fact how skillfully it is actually written.

I thought it was a good song at the time....
But... "Do They Know It's Christmas" always moved me MUCH more. To this day, I love that song. one thing that always bugged me- about the video at least- for WATW was that Sheila looked uncomfortable and/or out of place in the video....maybe it's just because I paid more attention to her?? Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

But it's too bad that Michael has to release some sequels: Heal The World Earth Song The Lost Children

Shelia was a fill-in for Prince (since he politely turn down the invitation to perform on the song).

.....even if Michael & Lionel borrow a few lyrics from Lennon/McCartney to get it done!

Okay, I have to ask. A friend of mine says that only a very small portion of the food and supplies from the "We Are The World" project actually got to the starving people, And the rest was stolen by the African militias and government officials. Any truth to this? I doubt it since you'd think that a story like this would've made national headlines, But my friend swears up and down that it's true.

I don't think she was a "fill-in", many have assumed she was there due to her working relationship with Lionel Ritchie and would have been there either way. DarlingDiana said: Thanks for sharing this. It's funny how he got flakked for singing at the WMAs in London some months ago when he sings it exactly the same way at the end of this clip (and mind you, singing to a presenter's microphone instead of a proper singing microphone, without the vocals coming from the correct direction in the monitoring system, is not an easy task for anyone). I guess those idiots commenting on some of the news clips just have never heard male falsetto singing live. And jackson & richie wrote that high "we're saving our own lives" -part out of male range anyway, as it was meant to be sang by the full choir with the females most prominently in the mix.
