Nice pick. I remember seeing this when I was little. I fucking loved "Breezin". Benson was on fire back then.

Thanks for posting this. Bobby Womack wrote the hell out of that song. I saw him do an impromptu version on an old video where he was playing acoustic guitar laying on his back, singing vocals and then explaining how he came up with the song and melody. Great, great song.

nod Yup! Ndeed!!

Btw, The original recording of "Breezin'" first appeared on this 1970 album, with Bobby Womack doing guitar duets with Gabor Szabo:

Tommy LiPuma produced both this album and George Benson's 1976 version....

I think my favorite piece on that record is the Bobby Womack tune I Remember When.

Guess who one of the bass players on the album is?
Phil Upchurch. wink

Whenever I hear "Breezin", I always think of cool ass Venus sitting in the DJ booth at WKRP in the dark with candles, wind chimes, and a gong.

This was before the nose job and Hitler mustache. He and Bruce Jenner must've had the same surgeon...Nelson George really gets on his case in The Death of Rhythm & Blues.

Cool clip, though I think he was holding back on Carlos...

Phil is one of those guys that can smoke on guitar AND bass! There's been couple of albums (Chaka khan's first solo record is one example) where I assumed that the bass player on some tracks had to be either Anthony Jackson or Abe Laboriel, only to find out that it was Phil on the lower frequencies!!

He's not just a guitarist that can play a few licks on the bass.
A true double threat.
