for christ's sake, how many different honors are th World Music Awards going to make up on the spot just to get MJ to attend. he's practically the only guy that shows up at this thing every year, so they have to give him some high-falutin' made up nonsense each time just to make sure he doesn't ditch it like every other self-respecting pop star.

First of all, I would like to say "bullshit" to the statement that MJ is the only person to show up every year. Was Michael there last year, the year before etc.? It's alright to be negative( it that's your thing); however, get your facts straight.

Now, on to the actual WMA's. The televised viewing just confirmed what I already knew- that the media are a bunch of lying @$$holes. The reception that Michael received was unprecedented. I've NEVER seen that reaction before for ANYONE, even Michael. The audience was in a frenzy and it was not just the fans. Everyone in that place, including the celebrities were in anticipation of Michael's appearance. When he came out, the reaction was OVERWHELMING. If anyone was stupid and gullible enough to believe the media you would have believed that he received no applause and that he was "booed" off of the stage. None of that was true. He was enthusiastically received. He swaggered out on stage oozing with confidence. He was humbled by the crowd's reaction, and showed class and dignity, as he always does. When he came back out, the reaction was even more frenzied. He sang a few lines with the song "We Are The World". Despite having to compete with the VERY LOUD pre-recorded( I don't know why the WMA organizers wouldn't use an instrumental version of this song) vocals of Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder, Michael sounded great on the few lines that he sang. IF a person was stupid enough to believe the media reports, you would have thought that he sounded horrible. He did not.

It is not about making "excuses"( as some in this forum want to claim) about Michael. It is about telling the truth and telling the facts. Michael fans don't care if you like Michael, we just want the FACTS reported. The facts were not reported about the WMA's. The media and haters alike(probably the same people) deliberately manipulated the truth. They know that there was no booing. Even if it had been a few scattered "boos" there is no way in hell that these tabloids would have been able to hear them over the deafening screams of the audience. These people who made up these rumors were most likely not even there. Beyonce was smiling from ear-to-ear when she presented her idol his award. She said that if it hadn't been for Michael, she would have never wanted to be an entertainer. THis is something that she has always said. However, according to the lying media, Beyonce had to be forced to give MJ his award. See, these are the things that Michael fans are so defensive about. The lengths that the media and haters will go to to try and destroy this man is unbelievable. Yet, you have people saying that MJ fans over-react. Wanting FACTS reported accurately is not over-reacting. Fans of Prince, Janet, Madonna and every other entertainer wants the same thing- the TRUTH. Personal feelings should never cloud the truth and make way for the double standards that Michael receives from the media, haters and non-fans.

It was a Top 5 countdown. SInce it's based on sales there can't actually be nominees.

Yes skyecute, I was in the standing audience that night and the press reports the next morning were astounding. I didn't even believe that any of the writers of those articles were even there since they even reported things that were scheduled to happen but never did (i.e. Mary J Blige attending and performing).

We spoke to some of the press the next night and asked why the reports were lying and the journalists & photographers we talked to said they were there and didn't know why the general reports were so bad either. I don't even know why the editors even bothered making that shit up since it was televised less than a week later and proved it all wrong.

Ellie, thanks for confirming what all MJ fans knew. You were there and so were many other fans. You know what happened. Can you believe that the anti-MJ people have the audacity to wonder why we get angry at the media? THese people deliberatly lied when there was footage to rebuke everything that they said. What really pissed me off was that the rest of the media blindly followed what the British media printed without checking to see if it was accurate. These people WANTED it to be true only because it was Michael. Sadly, there are fans of other entertainers who are so blinded by jealousy and hate for MJ that they wanted these reports to be true, also. It's a sad world when people WANT something negative to be true.
