Have you ever forced yourself to like a song? If so, what is it? Who was the artist who did it and why did you force yourself to like it?

I think a lot of fans convince themselves to like their favorite artists new stuff, even if, deep down they don't like it. I mean a lot of MJ fans and Prince fans seem one minute to love the new tracks on the "most recent" albums, and then, later, they knock it to hell.

Does anyone else feel what I'm trying to say here?

Yes. I forced myself to like "Martha's Harbour" by All About Eve, because a girlfriend liked it...when we split up, it was a relief not to like it again!

I never force myself to do anything. If I don't like something, I just don't like it. I'm an individual and forcing yourself to like something is trying to be accepted by others and that's not being an individual at all. If someone doesn't accept me, fuck 'em.

I definitely tried to force myself to like MJ's Unbreakable and Heartbreaker. Plus the whole of 'Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic'.

Forced myself to love Madonna's 'American Life' album the first week it was released.

I usually do that and then realise my real feelings for the songs months down the line when I haven't touched the CDs for ages.
