elton john is not phil collins

Rocket man, Daniel, Goodbye yellow brick road, sacrifice.

It was my little secret but I like Elton.

He's done some bad songs, like the non-offensive "I'm still standing"

His finest works compiled onto 1 cd make a very fine album.

I wonder if there r any gems I'm ignorant of

I love Elton John. He's one of my favorite artists, but it seems like I never see him mentioned alot around here. Some of my favorites are Skyline Pigeon (amazingly beautiful and sad song), Daniel, I Want Love, Sacrifice... a zillion others. I like the 80's stuff, too.

But what's wrong with Phil Collins?? biggrin I've always liked him as well (of course, Elton is in a different league, but still... Phil is cool.)

I'm still countin'.

I've grooved to "Sussuido", but 1 good tune doesn't change things.
He's guilty of some tiresome niceties

Hehe, yeah I can't argue with ya with that one. He's definitely recorded some dreck.

I like his early solo stuff best, though. "In the Air Tonight" is cool... and "I Don't Care Anymore". And I like his duet with Phil Bailey, "Easy Lover". It's a fun pop/R&B song.

No offense but you have some strange opinions about lElton and Phil but they are your own. Most people love Elton's "I'm Still Standing" and think Phil's "Sussido" is embarassing (it's inoffensive to me...not a favorite for sure).

I don't think many people would argue that Elton is more respected than Phil Collins but frankly people bust on Phil waaay too much. He's had some excellent solo hits and his years in front of Gensis resulted in some great songs, too. But stuff like "Sussidio" (and some of the cheesier, weaker ballads like "Groovy Kind Of Love") I think ruins his credibility.

Some Elton jems:

That's Why They Call It the Blues

A Word in Spanish

Belfast

Believe

Made in England

Your Song

Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me

Saturday's Alright for Fighting

Gosh, we all should be fortunate to have half the hits that man has had...

Elton John is brilliant, I don't know why you should consider him a guilty pleasure.

More Elton gems:

Madman Across the Water
Indian Sunset
Holiday Inn
Elderberry Wine
Texan Love Song
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters

Those are some of my favorites, aside from his boatload of classics.

His earlier albums are easily the best, but his new album "The Captain and the Kid" is excellent.

I'm pretty sure Cee thinks (like most people) that Elton is better than Phil.

Sorry. I didn't mean to be a jerk. I shouldn't have said your opinions are strange...just different from what most people think. Original?
