i'd say pretty much everything she's released up to date is worth having

Almost everything she did is quite good. Highlights for me are Comfort Woman and Plantation Lullabies. Those are pop albums. She also did a straight jazz album, called The spirit music jamia: dance of the infidel. That's totally different from her normal stuff. I don't like it very much.
If you can go see her live, you should. She's like Prince: live way better than on CD.

I'd say start with Peace Beyond Passion and Bitter. I dig her "live" albums more than the more electronic stuff, like Comfort Woman. Cookie is great, though.

My first introduction to Meshell's albums was with Bitter in 1999.
It's a rather introspective, somber record, but if you let it resonate with you it reaps multiple rewards. There's a cover of Jimi Hendrix's May This Be Love? that I find incredible. Also, I love the last moment of the album "Grace." Personally, I recommend starting with this album because it's the most rewarding. After that, it whetted my appetite for Plantation Lullabies & PBP.

'Peace Beyond Passion' is essential.
I met her in DC... I used 2 hang with a couple cats from her band. Federico was a monster on the keys... a human octopus. Peace. "He's a musician's musician..."

You can’t go wrong with any of her albums although Bitter is my personal favorite followed closely by Plantation Lullabies. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
