Then they insulted Prince to the ultimate by giving the Phil the Album of The Year for "No Jacket Required" over Purple Rain. I hate the fucking sussudio song, the no jacket album, Phil and the Grammys since then. The beginning of both songs is identical. I can't believe that Phil's album won over Prince's that year. Do you feel my pain? DO YOU? [Edited 3/15/07 17:38pm]

Yeah, but I'm not one of them, I liked their "Break Out" song. Break Out was a a pretty good song, but it had one of the worst Mid 8s ever written.

Christ, that is pretty awful! Have you ever seen the video? It's up there with Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Talent. Bound to be on YouTube somewhere - it's just ghastly.

It's the bit just before the final chorus that doesn't sound anything like the rest of the song. It's normally 8 bars long, hence the name, but some people call it the Bridge. "Rain sounds so cool when it hits the barn roof..." in Raspberry Beret is the Mid 8/Bridge.

I couldn't stand "Shout" by Tears for Fears. Everytime I heard it on the radio I changed it really fast.
And this is the song that made them really popular!!

The most annoying songs to me were the songs that were over-played, i.e Like a Virgin, Hello, Billie-Jean, shout, Mickey and the list goes on...alot them were not bad songs, but if something is over-done it becomes ignoring even if it's good.

Not necessarily annoying, but "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" by Soft Cell is, for me, the single worst record ever recorded. Even worse than Def Leppard's "Let's Get Rocked".
Marc Almond just needs a bloody good slap.

It was a huge hit all over the world. I remember hearing it on the American charts . I recently saw a music documentation that mentioned that the members of Opus still all live on the money they earned with that one song. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

You got the lyrics correct. The song that you're thinking of is "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

While the '80s produced its fair share of annoying songs, I'd say that the '90s and '00s have given us far more, especially with all the sh*t-hop (to quote Vain Andy ), guitar 'indie' stuff and boy/ girl band pop.
Actually, I can't think of any '80s song as annoying as some of the later stuff, so let normal service be resumed. [Edited 3/19/07 6:17am]

[Edited 3/19/07 6:17am] Oh there's no doubt about it that the 90s, while turning out the occasional gem, was the most bleak period in pop music for the last hundred years. Quite ghastly. But I digress! I can think of a few really dreadful 80s songs, but something specifically annoying... Ride On Time by Black Box. It's just horrible. I actually think of this as a 90s song, but it seems it was released in '89.
