Really? Which UTFO song was that; I'm curious.

Wasn't it just called "Diss" (like "Kiss")?

Diss was the song that dissed our boy Prince.
They mention something about a Rat skinned coat.
I assumed they were talking about that thing Prince wore in the U Got the Look Video.

Cute song. I'm sure Prince never heard it.

Dunno, very well could have been. Gotta find it, thanks!

Does anybody remember "We're Only Buggin'" by UTFO? I'm listening to it now. I completely forgot about this song.

That was Whistle. My favorite was to flip the 12 Inch over and play the dub version which was really great. Play an instrumental or dub of a rap record today and what do you hear....nothing but a weak beat. lol

As far as I remember, it came out in 86 or 87...strange that it isn´t listed among the album tracks above...probably was just a 12 " bonus. I had it on tape back then .

to me "one love" has held up really well and is a classic jam! black eyed peas kinda stole that line in their "where is the love song" but i'm sure most people never picked up on it and thought it was original.

The LA Dream Team also sang on two slow jams.....a remake of "Stop To Start" and "Lisa For Love", which was a tribute to a member of their group named Lisa who had recently died.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Kurtis Blow sang on a track years earlier. I could be mistaken but I really think he did.

As for all these today trying to be too hard, if they have to put on an act, they ain't shit to begin with. If they would be their damn selves, they might find out that they actually do have some talent but have been too damn ignorant to show it.

you're right kurtis blow did sing on a track. can't think of the title though. also the boogie boys and grandmaster flash and the furious five sang as well!

The Kurtis Blow track, was called "Day Dreaming".

the one thing that tripped me out about utfo's turn in their career is the fact that they went straight left field with the rest of their music. At the time I worked at the record store and I noticed their cassettes after their pretty boy run stopped were still being put out . I feel they were the beginning trendsetters for what we hear in rap today. I was shocked because it wasn't like the tapes were selling but they were able to keep putting out cassettes. the same topic on each one. I remember buying it and listening to it and saying DAG THIS ISN'T THE SAME UTFO! they straight went raunchy. eek

I spent many years looking for the first UTFO cd. I finally was able to get a copy and the vinyl too.

Whoodini has also been one of my favorites. My brother and I did "One Love" at one of the carnivals when I was growing up. I still have the casette. It is a trip to listen to it back now.

Lethal 1987

This was their best album because Full Force were at the top of their game. That same year they produced Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam's best lp as well as their own best lp, Guess Who's Coming to the Crib.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Five Minutes of Funk will always be my personal favorite. Till this day we play the Haunted House of Rock every Halloween.

Roxanne, Roxanne from UTFO was just playing on AOL 80's black music. I love this and have the original 12 inch of all three in the crates.
pray God bless everyone. NO exceptions. pray
