I had 2 tickets to see D'Angelo but I got into an argument with my girlfriend the day of the show. I left her the ticket and went on my own. Had a great time, the seating chart said 3rd row but because the stage was extended, my row ended up being the front row! The whole show, D'Angelo is giving me fives and at one point I caught his hankerchief which I immediately gave to the girl sitting next to me....

I’ve been 2 many concerts in my life. The only concerts I've ever attended along were Prince Concerts. Like someone said people drag there feet and complain about money issues and when going 2 see him I don’t need any money drama problems.
I can truly say attending the ONA, Hit and Run, HOB’s (after the Grammy’s) and 2 of the Musicology concerts along were the best. I did meet up with friends at the last Musicology show. I really prefer 2 go along because I’ve had more fun at those Prince concerts than I did with friends…. Prince fans are the best

Back in 2003, I saw eels at the Paradiso (Amsterdam) by myself. It was the hottest day of summer, no A/C.....they rocked! When the show ended, I knewthey would come back for another encore with the lights on, so I convinced the cute girl next to me to stay.....
Last October I saw Ryan Adams & The Cardinals by myself as well. The show was sold out but I had managed to get me on the guest-list via a friend of mine who works for a concertbooking-company. I thought he had put me for 2 persons on the list, which unfortunately wasn't the case.....Hamsterhuey couldn't come along.....

Oh well.....maybe he will sign my box set, if I get there early enough! [Edited 3/5/07 11:48am] Hey Jason you got your ticket man? I LOVE BILLY JOEL.....We should talk and maybe hang B4 and after show give me a SHOUT!

I've flown solo at a few shows when I couldn't find anyone else to tag along - John Cale and The Hold Steady are larger shows I saw by myself, and lots of smaller gigs as well.
I might go to see Dimmu Borgir by myself this summer. [Edited 3/6/07 3:30am]

yeah, 20 minutes before show time I bought a ticket to see Clannad had to catch a cab in to the concert hall. Being a single ticket, even at such short notice, I had a great seat and loved it!

Ex-Moderator | I had plans to see the Pixies alone when they played their first ever reunion show at a little club in Mpls as it was announced, tickets went on sale and sold out all in a matter of minutes. Damn secret shows. I found someone willing to part with one ticket for an extreme amount of money and had planned to just go on my own but found some friends who also managed to score tickets at the last minute to go with.
I sat alone to see Bauhaus on their first reunion tour. A friend had bought a ticket, then won a front row ticket, so I took his other ticket about 10 rows back. It wasn't as fun sitting by myself, though. |

novabrkr said: Why do you people always speak about "concerts"? Don't you attend plain gigs ever?
I've been to "shows" that have had audiences of under ten people, and of course I go alone. Most of the time anyway. I know, whenever a band is performing live at any venue, no matter how small, to me is a concert. Having said that, I've been to literally hundreds by myself. The only time I actually went to a seated arena type show solo was Fiona Apple last year because my friend canceled at the very last minute and stuck me with the extra ticket. I am no longer speaking to that person.

i've seen a few shows by myself. in 1991 (or '92) i saw tori amos at the keswick theatre outside of philadelphia. she was still below the radar and none of my friends were into her. i also saw PIL by myself because none of my friends were interested. there are a lot more that i can't think of, little shows at local small clubs. sometimes i like to go out to a local venue by myself and just sit and watch unknown bands. its relaxing for me.

actually I saw The Who all by myself back in the fall . In fact, I think I've been to more concerts alone than with someone. I saw Alice Cooper, De La Soul, P-funk, Dave Brubeck, John Pizzarelli, Ahmad Jamal and Nicholas Payton by myself. In fact the only concerts I went with someone else too were Prince and the Stones.

The second night of Musicology was by myself and I had a BLAST!!!!! You end up talking to the people around you so it's all good. I can practically do anything by myself and be fine with it. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

vainandy said: I've been to many concerts with people and I've also been to many concerts alone. It just depends on whether or not I know someone who likes the artists in concert and also if they like them enough to pay money to see them because Andy don't pay for noboby's ticket but his own.
My very first concert, I went alone. It was The Barkays, Con-Funk-Shun, and Klymaxx in October of 1985. I may have been alone but I had fun with the people in the stands next to me. They gave me Jack Daniels to pour in my Coke and everyone was passing joints down the row and taking hits all night long. I was so fucked up, when I first saw Larry Dodson swinging a python between his legs, I thought it was his dick....until he pulled the whole snake out and put it's head in his mouth. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
