Ever seen a concert by yourself - if so who?

It just now occured to me, I've never been to a concert without a friend or someone going with me. Has anyone ever gone to a concert solo? If so, who did you see and how was it?

Also, on a related note, are there any artists you would go see by yourself?

Yes... Prince's Parade Hit And Run show @ MSG and Sade

Most of my friends would rather slit their wrist than go see Sade
and i had a great time by myself

Prince on the other hand although i went by myself i didn't feel like i was all alone, because the people were so friendly, exchanging stories about Prince.. it was cool... but see i'm one of those people who would by a ticket for a concert or movie by myself...I don't need someone else to have a good time

Yes, Prince's Parade show in Frankfurt. But as I was travelling there by bus I already knew some people before the show started razz . I was also travelling alone to London to see Sananda in London in 2002 or 2003, but I knew that people were there who I knew so that might not count wink . And I was alone at a free Mattafix concert last summer because my boyfriend had to leave with my niece because she was in such a bad mood lol.
I guess there might be some others as well, but I can't think of any other at the moment.
I would go and see any of my favourite artists even if I had to go there alone. There's nothing worse than missing a concert I really wanna see cool .
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

I go to a lot of small shows on my own but as far as a stadium/arena type of show I think I've always attended with a friend or family member.

Yep, I've been to concerts solo. Will do it again.

There's quite a few shows I'm trying to go to soon. Hoping for the best. I want to go to DIAMONDS 07, but I dunno, it's on the same date as another dance nite I'm trying to check out. And it is going to be a really cool one: The Presets + Lo-Fi-Fnk on the same bill. _____.

I wish The Ordinary Boys, Infadels and Calvin Harris would tour here soon. I'm in need of a good live show now.

Why do you people always speak about "concerts"? Don't you attend plain gigs ever?

I've been to "shows" that have had audiences of under ten people, and of course I go alone. Most of the time anyway.

i go to shows alone now and then. it doesn't bother me, i guess because i'm an only child and i have as much fun alone as i do with other people most of the time.

that said, i can remember seeing stereolab, the residents and last year's lollapalooza by my lonesome, and the prince ONA tour.

The reason I ask is because..I'm planning of seeing Billy Joel when he comes to St. Louis, and I'll probably end going alone. I'm afraid if I don't see him this time touring, I won't get another chance. It seems like most of his shows these days are only around NY. sad

Oh well.....maybe he will sign my box set, if I get there early enough! biggrin

I attended Prince's Musicology tour by myself, and I think I would've had the same amount of fun if I had went with a friend. It was still fun either way.

Bruce Springsteen, twice in 1998. Of course, they were out-of-town shows and I just HAPPENED to be in Cleveland on business the same time Bruce was there. Funny how that happened...The shows were great, BTW.

I saw Ted Nugent by myself a couple years ago, and thank goodness I was alone. I wouldn't want to subject anyone I care about to that jagoff's blend of "this amp goes to 11" distortion; extreme-right-wing politics; and obscenity not equalled by anyone ever. No, not even Prince at his dirtiest.

There were kids at Nugent's show, but that didn't stop him from delivering the filthiest monologues I have ever heard.

I've been to many concerts with people and I've also been to many concerts alone. It just depends on whether or not I know someone who likes the artists in concert and also if they like them enough to pay money to see them because Andy don't pay for noboby's ticket but his own. lol

My very first concert, I went alone. It was The Barkays, Con-Funk-Shun, and Klymaxx in October of 1985. I may have been alone but I had fun with the people in the stands next to me. They gave me Jack Daniels to pour in my Coke and everyone was passing joints down the row and taking hits all night long. I was so fucked up, when I first saw Larry Dodson swinging a python between his legs, I thought it was his dick....until he pulled the whole snake out and put it's head in his mouth. lol

Steely Dan, last year, great time. Really no need to worry about security in a Steely Dan crowd!
