This episode just made me think about how the Jacksons popularized the trend for family bands. The Sylvers were fun to watch perform, so many of them to see! I'm tryin' to think of the last family band in R&B before the trend started to fizzle out . . . .DeBarge maybe?

Sounds right nod

hmmm or Sister Sledge

The Jets would probably be considered the last family band. You could even go as far as to say Hanson.

This episode was pretty good. My favorite moment of the episode was the Soul Train line with "Dance With Me" by Rufus and Chaka Khan.

I really was feeling that James Brown track Super Bad, Super Slick.

I hated that version. It was too slow.

Looks like the 3-17 episode will be from June 1984 with the Dazz Band & Run D.M.C.

That one should be pretty decent. They are pushing their boundaries though. They don't need to go past 1984. lol

They played an episode from 1986 back in December. It was more like the "Pop Train" than the "Soul Train".

Early 1985 only. If they make it to the summer of 1985, they've gone too far. Once Shitney came on the scene and made it big, things were changed forever.
