House of Pain "Jump Around" This has been buggin me 4 some years now and i wanna know the answer.
House of pain had a tune out in the early 90's (93 - 94 ?) called "jump around" and i think it has the screem at the begining of "Gett Off" sampled onto its chorus. Can any1 confirm this as its driving me crazy like an itch i cannot scratch. Thanks Orgers [Edited 3/2/07 2:38am] Reality is an illusion

WRONG. It's part of the opening scream from "Gett Off".

I despise this song with all my heart.
I thought it sucked 15 years ago or so, and I still think its weak. I was however pleasantly surprised by Everlast on whitey ford. The sample to me always sounded like prince. This song brings out every nucklehead in a bar without fail. Please bury it in a far away place. Music is the best...

Well I know I'm right. Do an A-B comparison and you'll see.

DJ Muggs said he took a horn riff and sampled it. Simple as that. Cornbread, Grits, and Collard Greens/I got what you need/If you want it/Cuz I'm a pimp, girl/With a drippy, juicy Jheri Curl

.. that the pitches sliding upward do not occur in the "Gett Off" intro squeal.

It's very easy to do that with a pitch bend wheel. The tonality is exactly the same. Do you really think that DJ Muggs will be truthful and say what he really used and get sued for not clearing a sample?

Thing is, Muggs used the "horn squeal" on other projects. That kinda became his signature gimmick, so I doubt he was playing the "sample game." Cornbread, Grits, and Collard Greens/I got what you need/If you want it/Cuz I'm a pimp, girl/With a drippy, juicy Jheri Curl
