I haven't even heard "Beautiful Liar." I've only seen some video snippets. But the IDEA alone is awesome! I'm excited.



Beyonce: "Why I'm Duetting with Shakira"

Ms Knowles tells MTV all about that Shak duet and discusses her new brand of girl power...

Beyonce has revealed details of her highly anticipated duet with Shakira.
Talking to MTV, the 'Deja Vu' diva said she loved every minute of working with the swivel-hipped star on their new track, 'Beautiful Liar'.

"I’ve always loved her and I’ve always wanted to work with her and the song fits perfectly," she said.

"It basically talks about two women; the same guy is trying to get at both of them but instead of them fighting, they’re saying, ‘He’s a beautiful liar, let’s not fight, let’s stick together – forget him!’ I think it’s a great concept."
The track will feature on the re-issued version of Beyonce's latest album, 'B'Day'.

The video is hot, but I don't think the song is that great. I love the Eastern sound (and the violin solo was lovely) but the idea was not executed well. The words are hard to understand, and the end of the chorus sounds like "beautiful lie..." rather than beautiful liar. The digital instruments could have sounded better. If they would have worked a little harder on it, it may have turned out to be something great. Oh well, that's today's music for you.

I saw the video for the first time yesterday.

IT WAS DAMN HOT!!!!

It was so great that no man was in the video.

1. I've loved Shakira since she sang Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like a Lady" for the Icon event, even impressing STeve Tyler.

2. I've loved Beyonce since she went solo (except in movies )

3. Having them together getting a double dose of the ecstacy that IS femininity?? My gawd!!!!

4. This is why I love Beyonce, not only is she not afraid to embrace her presence as a woman but she doesnt' begrudge other women their greatness. I remember when she and Jewel did a hot version of "Proud Mary" (!) then of course she asked Ashanti to tour (which Ashanti couldn't handle) ... the girl band, etc. I love the concentration of woman styles and power that Beyonce isn't afraid to bring together.

You have to be a bad chick to dance alongside another badass chick.

And Beyonce brings it every time no matter who's in the room.

I CANNOT STOP WATCHING THIS VIDEO.

This is destiny for these two. They've always resembled each other. They both have distinctive vocal warbles. And they each love gyrating in their own way.

This was a celebration of that sisterhood, that commonality.

The reason this video works is because the combination of their two vibes is so PERFECT!!! It enhances each. I think Beyonce and Shakira both are elevated because of the boldness (not insecurity) of this collab.

And let me say -- after several views, I just realized they were clothed. Ha ha!

They have so much electricity, chemistry, and sex appeal I forgot they weren't naked.

They are in black and mostly clothed for the majority of the video and yet it's the sexiest video I've ever seen.

And the moments in the final segment. My god. That could tame cobras.

I'm a straight woman and quite frankly, I'm mesmerized and almost hypnotized (by the slinky motions and belly dancing).

I don't like the song but good goobily goo. That's too much ass in one video. Too much. Right now some poor brother's eyeballs are bleeding.

Seriously, has pop music progressed soundwise at all during the last ten years?

The song is boring but ok. I was hoping for something steamier, more dancalicious.
But those two are certainly stunning women who know how to move.
