You've listed some of my favorite tunes by Atlantic Starr.. Barbara Weathers debut, and a crossover hit with Secret Lovers. This LP was imo their best after sharon's departure and last recordings with A&M. They had a song or two under WEA or WB..aka "Warn A Brutha about this Wreckard Co".

Those are all great songs you listed and the very last one I like by them is "Freak-A-Ristic". I absolutely hated "Secret Lovers" and all that boring pop shit that came afterwards. Late 80s.....horrible years.....HORRIBLE years. Andy is a four letter word.

Those R&B bands were HUGE back in the day...I'd get lost in a band like that!

The 'Brilliance' CD can be found at CDUniverse. It's an import so it costs $22.
But if you just need the song "Let's Get Closer",you can find it on the 'Smooth Grooves Volume 8' CD,from Rhino Records.Full tracklist: "Who Can I Run To" by the Jones Girls "Don't Ask My Neighbors" by The Emotions "Magic Man" by Robert Winters and Fall "Let's Get Closer" by Atlantic Starr "Come Share My Love" by Miki Howard "Pop,Pop,Pop Goes My Mind" by LeVert "When We Get Married" by Larry Graham "Country Girl (You're My Everything)" by The Nights "If Loving You Is Wrong,I Don't Want To Be Right" by Millie Jackson "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Patti LaBelle "Blind Over You" by Black Ice "Stars In Your Eyes" by Herbie Hancock The 'Smooth Grooves' CDs are really cheap and contain alot of great songs.I have every volume that's been released.

I hate "Secret Lovers" too Such an annoying piece of adult contemporary pop crap! It's sad that this had to be their most popular hit...the song that most people remember them for.Oddly,I have no problem with most of their other late-80s hits ("Always","All In The Name Of Love","My First Love",etc),even though these songs lean a little too heavily on the pop side of things.

It's a shame that the 'Secret Lovers:Best Of Atlantic Starr' CD is out of print.I think it's the best compilation of all, containing the full-length album versions.

I do prefer the Sharon Bryant years. Bryant was the lead singer for the group's best albums, IMO:
* 1981's "Radiance," which features "When Love Calls," "Send for Me" and "Am I Dreaming;" * 1982's "Brilliance," which features "Circles," "Let's Get Closer" and "Love Me Down; * 1983's "Yours Forever," which features "Touch a Four-Leaf Clover," the title track and "More, More, More." THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!
