IS MADONNA A PRUDISH MOM ?

Page Six of the NY POST reported the following this morning

February 28, 2007 -- IT'S do as I say, not as I do, for Madonna, who's laid down the law to her daughter, Lourdes, 10, about dressing too provocatively. "My daughter is going through a phase of wearing jeans so tight she can't bend her knees in them," the Material Mom, who posed nude for her "Sex" book, tells British Elle. "I have a go at her and say, 'Can't you wear something else? You have a closet full of clothes and you wear the same pants every day . . . And please wear a belt because I don't want to see your butt crack when you bend over.' "

I have a feeling Lourdes is gonna give her Mom a run for her money lol lol

Well, I suppose that, coming from where she's been, she wants to keep a strict reign on her kids. Logically. She knows what's out there.

I love it that she's got kids now. They will grow up in a world where their mom has fought to be free as a woman. But as long asthey are underage, I think parts of that are offlimit to them. And rightly so. A good parent is a loving but strict parent, I think.

It seems that so far Madonna has proven to be a very good mother.I think she learned alot from her father, who is strict and conservative. The world is so crazy now that it makes sense to be overly protective/aware of what your kids are doing, watching or wearing, lol. Her children will turn out just fine.

I think she learnt from him, partly, how not to treat your children. If I remember correctly, she felt he was distant always.

To me, it seems Madonna is friends with her kids, without forgetting to draw a parental line. I think she is doing awright.

Madonna is very similar to my mom...in terms of atitudes and life story.

Sounds to me like she doesn't want her daughter to grow up banging every guy she meets like her mother did. Fairly normal behaviour for a mom I guess.

Yeah? Well just want until those kids are old enough to watch their mother's music videos. THAT will be Madonna's final exam as a parent to explain the story behind those classics (ESPECIALLY: Justify My Love)!!! lol

Madge said during the Erotica era her music wasn't for kids. Should come as surpise now that she still believes there are certain things kids shouldn't do?

As if her kids can't find their mother's videos on the internet or at a friend's house.

well she watched tv at friends' houses even though her dad didn't allow it. I'm sure she's thought of that, and I'd love to be the fly on the wall for those discussions.

um, madonna was in her 30s when she made "sex." lourdes is 10. madonna SHOULD keep that little girl on lock down.

IF i had kids...no tv, no crap magazines...not in my house. i agree with madonna when it comes to how she raises her kids.

well, except for the whole giving lourdes her own credit card thing. kids need to be kids. they can be little adults when they're 18.

I've always said that I would fall in love with Madonna all over again the way I first did in 1994 if she'd ditch the kids, the arsehole husband, dropped the Queen Mum's accent, went back to Detroit and got hip, bitchy yet still had a heart and soul again. That's my favorite Madonna..I guess I fell in love with her right before the change of life! I don't think she should raise Lourdes to be the young verison of what she used to be...I just don't think she should raise Lourdes or the other ones!

It's not her videos she has to worry about lol the 'Sex' book is far more explicit than any of her videos, lol.

I think Madonna must regret a lot of what she was doing back than.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don“t like the idea that he could have it all."

bitchy Mads is still there we see bits of her from time to time. she just tries harder to not appear that way.

Let's see...Lourdes is 10 now, right? I give it another 6-8 years! These will be the years that tests Madonna's mothering skills! If Lourdes makes it to 19 without making Madonna publicly (y'all know Madonna can't do anything without doing it publicly) loose her fucking mind, then and only then will I praise Madonna as a parent. cool

Nah, I think that she is perfectly happy where she is at the moment, and realizes that all of the antics she pulled in the past have led her to where she is at the moment.

Plus, a lot of the stuff that critics trashed her for meant a ton to her fans. If Madge had been a stuffy, boring, mindless popstar I'd never have fallen for her. I liked the edge, I liked the uncertainty. You never knew where she was gonna go next. Even now that she's become much more "safe" than she was, she's still miles ahead of her pop competition.

yeah, its just too bad that most tv isn't appropriate for kids anymore. when we were kids the sitcoms were who's the boss, growing pains, the cosby show, etc. now everyshow is trashy and most things are vulgar.

i'd probably let the kids watch pbs, discovery, history, and learning channel. i might let the kids watch the disney channel. might.
